My other bench is KT.. will be looking closely at Bastinac this week, especially if KT gets dropped.

Same, went for the dirt cheap mature age rookies. Howlett and JKT.
Teach me for trying to save a dollar. In hindsight I probably should have given a bit more thought to job security.

The problem is I dont have any spare cash I think I have $700 and to upgrade the 77k players to shuey or banner then I need some extra cash so will take three trades including a downgrade of a mid to topline player :(

C'mon Gray, one more week on the sidelines my friend. Will stuff up that 5% who have him again, because the forward rookies are solid at best.

I'd consider it seriously given that WC are playing Port at home.

62 is okay on the bench but Martin was rubbish last week if you had him starting.. can't see him doing better against the Dogs than Shuey against Port at home imho.

He scored 74 odd points (not 62) and if you watched the game you will have noticed that there is massive scope for improvement SC wise. Started slowly but worked his way in tot he game as it went on. Will be much better for the run and to have that first game out of the way. Also, i don't really think it matter too much about the opposition in terms of these rookies.

Having said this i am still leaning towards Shuey over Martin at this stage.

He scored 62 in DT, which is what I was talking about. ;)

I did watch the game and I was shocked to see he had 62/74 because I remember him touching it about 4 times.

For sure.

I wouldn't agree with that. If a team is getting smashed then chances are their rookies aren't going to be getting a lot of it either.. especially if they're midfielders.

Why is that then?

Now your confusing me. Isn't this a reason to take him? Was relatively quiet yet still scored 74 points? Isn't this just backing up what i said about him working into the game and therefore having scope for improvement?

You do realise that Martin wins hius own ball? Maybe that is why you only noticed him getting it 4 times last week.

Why is that then?

I think he may find a little more consistancy over this season due to being in the system a year longer. Won't be much in it though hence why i'm having trouble deciding.

Re your comments re confusion.

I never said don't get him..? Now I'm confused. The question was who to start Shuey or Martin. All I said was that his 62 in DT was rubbish for a starting mid, okay for the bench though and that I would start Shuey this week because etc, etc.

I never commented on his 70 odd in SC. I have him starting there as well and 74 or whatever is a lot more respectable than 62.

As for getting his own ball, I don't care how he gets it. All I'm saying is I didn't notice him a lot during the game so I was surprised to see his score was 62 afterwards.. I was happier! I dunno, maybe I was taking a piss or getting another beer every time he got it. Whether he got his own ball or it was given to him is irrelevant to me really.. I still thought I would've noticed since I was watching for him as he was in my starting mids.

What's consistency over the season got to do with deciding whether to start him over Martin in round 2?

If you want to start him this week because he got an 85 last week then why not just say that?

Isn't how he get the pill totally relevent to his scores?

Huh? It's not that hard to understand is it? Do i take the guy who i believe will be more consistant or do i opt for the guy who might only score 60 but may also rip out a 120-130?

FWIW i may be totally wrong in my assumption that Shuey will be the more consistant player over the season.

A little off topic, but I'm quietly happy with downgrading Dempsey to Hooker before the deadline last week. Hopefully he can keep up his preseason and round 1 form and make me a nice 100k or so.:thumbsu:

Hooker was one of my first defenders picked. Hayden is another defender that i had no hesitation in picking.

Not in DT.

Once again, I think we're getting our wires crossed because you keep talking SC whereas I was talking DT (and I assumed the initial question was a DT one).. I could be wrong though as it was never specified I don't think.

Okay fair enough. I just don't think you can totally discount their opposition either. I'd be more inclined to start Shuey purely because they're playing at home and they are playing a side that I'd expect them to be competitive against rather than any thoughts of Shuey's consistency.

If Richmond were playing Melbourne and Geelong were playing WC at Skilled then I'd more than likely start Martin and put Shuey on the bench. An extreme example I know but that's what I'm getting at.

Will Mark McVeigh recapture his 2008 form (Dreamteam)? I'm a bit worried with Essendon's midfield now and if there will be enough room for him? I saw him playing more round half-back than the midfield, will this continue?

Not sure, IMO will average 75-90.

I went with Barlow and Martin (Shuey, Banner). Best possible result.

Opposition is overated when it comes to rookies.

OK, question for this week, guys. I have a few little worries atm but not sure what approach i should take.

1. Gray - starting to give me the shits. I'm hearing another week from some quarters and also whispers that it may be even worse.

2. Hille - when can we expect his scores to increase. Seaby is on fire and it's the last week we can jump on him before his price skyrockets.

3. Hayden - Freo are not using him anywhere as much as i thought. Wait and see approach on him?

Vince is also giving me the shits but i expect him to come good this week against the D's and not look back. Keeper anyway.

So should i use up an early trade on any of these or just bide my time?

What are the better trade options? Want to get rid of tippett for brown, to do it I have three options in my mind. Open to other suggestions

Hall out, Ballantyne in. Bank 16 300

Grey if unfit out (Good news in paper today that he should play this week), Dangerfield in. Bank 36 100

Kennelly out (strong bench options currently in maguire and waters), Silvagni in. Bank 156 500

What do people think?

Just bide your time at the moment bud. It hurts but, I want to click the trade button also.

Vince will come mighty good, most Crows players have him in their side so once they start dominating the opposition; he'll score massive. They're playing Melbourne this week (Adelaide), so I would be tempted to put him captain this week without a doubt. He'll explode soon, he loves the cheapies. Keep the faith.

Hall was unlucky last week to not get it kicked to him, I was at the game. If I was him, I would've hooked his teammates by then. They barely looked at him, but they will when opposition becomes somewhat harder and the big boys come into play. You picked him to be a keeper, so keep the faith.

Gray I would be more inclined to trade. His injuries could trouble him for the entire season, could be in out of the side regularly. Go with your gut, if you don't trust the Doc's down there at Port I'd trade him personally.

I don't know about others, but I thought Kennelly has been looking alright for the Swannies. I don't have him, but once I saw him in round 1 dashing off from HB I was starting to really get frustrated. He later got concussed, so that eased the pain somewhat. :p He'll make some money I would think, so stick with him. Patience is king.
