Sorry I posted this in the podcast thread but just wanted to get this in front of GCFC Digital

Just wondering if after the draft you can get Scott Clayton on to discuss the trade and draft period.

I'm a self confessed draft nerd and would be fascinated by a host of things we have done this off-season.

Questions I would love to have Clayton talk about on the Podcast:

1. How did negotiations go with Richmond and Hawthorn?
2. What was rationale for all the 2nd rd picks for 2017 and when did getting Scheer and going into deficit become a likely strategy? Was there any concern about a 1st rd bid for Scheer affecting our 2017 1st rd pick?
3. What was the plan going into the trade period as far as how many list spots were likely to be available?
4. At what point did Jarryd Lyons become a possibility?
5. Was there much dialogue with Brandon Ah Chee given he nominated GC?
6. There was talk that we were not into Barlow at the start of the trade period - was it after Mal retired and a further spot opened up with Garlett's departure that we had a need for an experienced player and what needs does Clayton think Barlow will fill?
7. Where do you see Hanley playing - off half back or more off a wing?
8. Did Jarrod Witt's relationship with Rocket play a part in getting him to the club?
9. Does he think we have enough ruck man on the list (especially if we draft English, rookie Brooksby and we are looking at Crossley next year)?
10. What was our strategy going into the draft - best available, focus on mids?
11. Do we have a focus on the character of the kids we draft and look at factors that show resilience and their ability to move away from home successfully?
12. How important was it to guard our draft preferences from 'getting out' given that our picks were so close together?
13. When determining your draft strategy did you just have a 'big board' and pick the next best or did you need to be a bit strategic in the order you picked players given the possible preferences of the other teams at 5, 7 and 9
14. Was there any particular strategy around what was going to happen with a Bowes bid?

Wow ok Emma Quayle

Great night at Suns sleep out. All the young players were there and mixing with everyone. I am particularly impressed with Peter wright and touk Miller. They both always are so friendly and always look like they are enjoying being there as not just forced to be there (some others havnt grasped this concept)

Not going to name names just I visit a lot with my clients and you just get a vibe off a few that they are there to do their time and get out. But most of these players have gone which is good. Just I know a few I felt like highlightibg that the clients I had didn't know who they were they just wanted to see someone who looks like a player lol I could put on a Suns Guernsey and shorts and they would be just as happy!!!! I just feel sometimes the young ones start to read their hype and get a bit of a superirity complex. But honestly wright, Miller, Nichols and Jack Martin are amazing!!

Was Brayden Fiorini there? I don't know much about his character but expecting big things from him this year

Yeh he was. He and Darcy were fantastic with the kids and seem really good friends. Brayden hoping to crack the Rd1 team and carry on from where he left off.

All the 1st, 2nd & 3rd yr players were there until 7pm when most of them finished. They had training earlier that day so most were fairly knackered and also had training scheduled for Saturday morning.

Touk & 2MP are the stand outs with the kids, spent most the night playing kick to kick. Cal Ah Chee, Joyce, Saady & Davis also love joining in the kids stuff.

The players I spoke to were praising Hanley. Said he is fitting in nicely. Funny bloke. Great for pepping them up when there hurting in the running drills. And most said he is so much faster than they thought.

2MP was very excited to have Swallow, Barlow, Lyons & Hanley added to our midfield. Looking forward to getting the pill delivered lace out a lot more next season.

Yeah fiorini a good bloke and was there. They were all very good, as I said was a few former Suns (and few not there) that were questionable. But it was very good turnout to have all those players and they always cheer up my clients. Me and my client had been searching for all the players from the calendar to sign their pictures and we now only have swallow to go after finding kk :) bloody injuries are a killer as mean you never get to see the players haha

Great to hear how good the young blokes we have these days.

It's easier to build good culture at a club when you are selecting kids with great values that are all about doing the right thing, as opposed to picking the most talented kids and hoping your footy club can change the bad habits that they have grown up with.

Also must say I've liked the recent comments from Lyons and Barlow where they have been very impressed with the Suns pitch and where the club is going. It sounds like we have a clear and achievable plan with the right people in place - just need to execute on the field this year and earn the respect of the football world.

Love hearing about all the young guys getting involved. Really shows we are heading in the right direction. Unfortunately none of the media down south would ever report a good story about us and continue with the same old lines about us being a rabble

Not much content over the last few weeks. I hope this is the calm before the storm and that the last few weeks were full of meticulous planning by the media team for draft night and they are about to go absolutely bezerko with content from draft night right up to the Christmas break

Surprised he hasn't been nominated for the Jim Stynes award

I wasn't aware of his charity work... I just heard people complain on family days that he would be hiding in the back of the tent with his mates

Can confirm that's definitely the case.
Quick question about process Mr Digital. Purely for interest on a day I'm sitting on the edge of my seat... feel free to not answer.

As an internal employee, one who'd likely need to be ready with material to hit the public with, how aware of the clubs draft intentions are you? Do you have a list of blokes we like and start preparing material for all of them, or are you privy to detailed draft strategy and kind of know beforehand who we are likely to get?

Optimistic of you

1. Have they had a chat last night about family or girlfriends coming up for a while
2. Have they been contacted by any of the Suns players last night (other than shout outs on twitter)?
3. What is the plan between now and getting to the Club on Monday - catching up with friends/family? when flying up?
4. Have they been told by the club what will happen once they get to the club - who will pick them up? Staying with a player or host family?
5. What Guernsey numbers have they worn in the past and have they had a chance to look at what is available at the Suns?
6. Besides your phone what is the #1 item you will be packing for the trip up to the Gold Coast?
