It shouldn't be forgotten that this was a man too sick and broken to attend his own hearing, but strides confidently onto a private jet home. People have died because of his actions, he was wrong and knew it was illegal. What happens now? Does he get his own TV show? Or will he fade away and just be known as the Wikileaks founder and enemy of hairstylists worldwide? Perhaps he could rekindle his political ambitions? Shortly before his exile, Assange announced that he was running for a seat in the Australian Senate, who knows he might have another crack it? Maybe that book deal will finally come through? It's bound to happen now. In 2016 he had a $1.5 million book deal fall through when he fired his ghostwriter, a man who subsequently called him "mad, sad and bad". The circus lands in town tonight.
Is it proven that people died directly from his actions?

Saddest campaigner on BF right here folks.

No it’s not, and the Judge said that in todays hearing…
Heh yep literally just read this bit on the ABC feed

In response to the question, or argument, that Assange put lives at risk and his disclosures were not in the public interest, his wife Stella Assange says there is "no evidence of any actual harm".
She said that was "exactly what the US government acknowledged in court today".
"There is no denying the public interest in WikiLeaks publications."

And Albanese is mis-reading the room if he thinks he should be doing a victory lap.

The first question should be: If you're so happy Assange is free, why did you just put McBride in prison?

Assange has done his time. Mcbride hasnt. Albanese can be consistent in advocating for Assange to be free now and Mcbride not based off one has served enough time and the other hasnt.

The guy who deliberately tried to get TRUMP elected is free. How long will it take for people to realise he is a right winger?

I don’t care what his political leanings are…
Everything he has published has been factual.
I’m left leaning and would never have voted for Hillary..,,
The republicans and Democrats are the same in the US… both right wing corrupt organisations.

He exposed what the Dems did to Bernie Sanders….

lol, the dems tried to kill him so he released some shit. Fair tbh

Trump offered him a full pardon if he released the leak source for the DNC emails(ie it wasn't Russia), he refused because journalism. When you realise dems/GOP are both right wingers this may make sense to you

Firstly with the China trade sanctions and now this we're seeing the benefits of losing the Morrison/Dutton era megaphone diplomacy. It's amazing what can be achieved when you view international relations as something more than a device to score political points domestically.

He was a very skilled "hacker" Assange wrote a program called Sycophant that allowed the International Subversives to conduct "massive attacks on the US military". What do you think might happen? He has pleaded guilty. Also, not much has been said of Assange leaving Sweden for the UK on 27 September 2010 and was arrested in his absence the same day. He was suspected of rape, unlawful coercion and multiple cases of sexual molestation. The best thing he can do is disappear, into anonymity. He looked in good shape boarding that plane and i suspect that won't happen and he will be vocal again soon.

Fully expecting quite a lot of people here to dismiss this because it's ex-CIA people and America is evil etc etc... but all the same, I think these are quite telling;

Binoy always writes well and (agree with him or not) is always worth reading.

One is pretending they aren't right wing however....

which bf poster paid the bitcoin amount?

A transaction recorded on mempool.space – a software website used to visualise data about the Bitcoin ecosystem – shows one user donated ‎8.07173122 BTC to Assange’s link, which converts to $739,789.
Assange’s wife, lawyer Stella Assange, told Reuters on Wednesday that this week’s chartered flights cost $782,334.
Assange’s team has also raised $793,456 via Crowdfunder and $20,384 via GoFundMe, meaning his campaign has surpassed the cost of the jet hire.
The Free Assange website states that Assange is in “dire need of recovery” and the leftover funds will be used to ensure his “recovery and well-being and safety”.
