Big upsets so far have been Simon and Marin Cilic... Cilic lost the second set 0-6!
Nadal, Davydenko, Berdych, Verdasco and JC Ferrero all through to the third round.

Also pretty surprising to see Benneteau lose to Ančić. He's no world beater, but Mario is just back from injury/illness, lost in a few Challengers and is only here on protected ranking.

Well Sam was able to beat Coin, 6-1, 7-6 (4), she was crusing at 6-1, 5-3 but then couldn't serve it out and ended up aaving a set point before finishing it off. Hope some confidence can be taken for that, a match with Pavlyuchenkova will be interesting.

Today's action, I guess with the no.1 seed out in the women's is an upset but Kuznetsova never deals with pressure so its almost not a surprise, didn't watch but supposedly she was awful. No other upsets at the moment, Azarenka, Jankovic (although to me that's an upset when she wins), Pennetta, Wickmayer all winning. Azarenka must be looking good now.

For the men, Nadal was decent against Schuttler in his first match, the wind was awful so kind of equalised things out a bit, can't really take anything apart from that he seemed to be moving fine. Davydenko won in straight in what could of been a danger match against Gulbis.

Cilic has screwed me over and my tournament bracket, awful loss, espically in that 2nd set, groundstrokes were going everywhere, didn't look comfortable. Thought this was the chance to really step it up since his great start to the year. Garcia-Lopez was hitting some nice shots but really Cilic was all over the place, he served for the set in the first, at 30-30, he was possibly one of the worst forehand volley attempts I have seen, straight intot he bottom of the net.

Yeah, I thought Benneteau would win too, but he always tends to play thsoe types of matches but Ancic's net play is solid and enjoyable to watch, look forward to seeing what he can do against Nadal.

Still a few matches being played and to be played. Ivanovic looks to be losing all of those points.

Bizzare match here. Novak took the first against Fish 6-1, and is now 40-40 on his own serve at 0-5.

Yep, bageled, this has a hilarious match. Djoko was actually playing some nice tennis in parts in the first set while Fish was awful, complete swap around in the 2nd.

Djokovic takes the 1st set 6-1, Fish takes the second 6-0. What the hell is going on there? Seriously Djokovic has some issues going on during matches, such huge momentum and confidence swings in his game.

thats somthing Nole will need to work on - but every forgets hes still only 23 years so its scarey to think how good he can be if he works out his weaknesses

Am I right in saying Federa didnt start dominating the world untill he was around 24-25 years old?

PS does anyone know when Alicia plays next & if it will be showen anywhere on Fox?

ta - might have to try justin.tv then

Not a chance, the first 3 courts are televised and only the women's matches on stadium 1 are shown.

And I think because of daylight savings in the US, Matoesvic's match is at 5am, early start tomorrow.

Perfect summary.

Kuznetsova, what a joke. How come she's always a chance of being knocked out first up? Shouldn't happen for the world #3, tournament's top seed but it does and way too often.

Cilic. Absolutely horrendous match from him, just awful. Mentally not there, physically shot, looked as bad as I've seen him for quite some time. I had him as the winner so my tournament bracket's stuffed!

Didn't think Nadal was all that impressive TBH but as you said conditions didn't really do him any favours, the wind was crazy in that first set.

Molik through to the fourth round very convincingly against Baltacha 6-0, 6-2. Sharapova/Zheng will be a huge step up for her, but this will be a nice little boost to her ranking.

Meanwhile, Monfils playing like an absolute mug for me at the moment.

Insipid display from Monfils this morning. Takes the first 6-1, and then plays some awful tennis. No way this guy deserves to be ranked where he is considering he puts in these performances so regularly.

Impressive again for Alicia, she looked like she was going to double bagel for a while, she has been able to use this great draw and now if she plays Zheng, who's a set up, she beat her just a few weeks ago in Dubai.

Matoesvic played to his ranking this morning, man Llodra must of played awful to lose like that, Marinko was completely outclassed by Tsonga, so many lose shots, very silimar to what I though when I saw him at AO.

Davydenko beat Gulbis with a broken wrist  Davydenko has withdrawn from the tournament and given Triocki one of the most easiest runs to the 4th round ever.

Didn't watch much of the Monfils match but that guy just doesn't care

Nalbandian and Monfils out this morning, Murray, Melzer and Tsonga through to the third round.

Zheng beat Sharapova in 3. Will now play Molik in the fourth round. :thumbsu:

Federer needed 3 sets to beat Hanescu, I watched the first set, Fed looked solid, must of dropped off from that. Roddick through comfortably as well.

Fed went for his usual 2nd set walkabout and Hanescu stepped up, really went for his shots and had some great backhand winners.

Were the crowd booing Lu or were they chanting his name?

They were saying Lu-urns! Lu-urns!.

Who was that Australian commentator they had yesterday that wouldn't shut up... yapping crap after every single point... Ash something I think. Robbie Koenig was getting pissed off.

Awful, name is Ashley Fisher.

He was so bad yesterday I had to mute the TV a few times. Thankfully he seemed to learn his lesson today as he spoke less, still too often and some pointless things, but he did speak less often. He was mainly paired with Adler yesterday, probably better for him as he likes to speak the most of the 3 guys. The great thing about Goodall, Adler and Koenig is that they speak less than any commentary team I know and that is a very good thing. They're brilliant when they speak but they do not over-do it, they only speak when there's really something to say, I can't speak highly enough of these guys. :thumbsu:

Murray was pretty pathetic against Seppi. Melzer is a gun, nice to see him win and he should, fingers crossed, make the 4th here. :thumbsu: Andreev should retire.

He was a recent doubles player, have to admit the rest are great, always try to find a stream with them, you're right they know when to talk and when not to talk, there would be a game without any commentray and then they will start talking about something useful usually.

Great win by Sam this morning, 6-3, 6-0 was unexpected against a player Palvyuchenkova. Zvonareva now waiting in the 4th round might be too tough for Sam but hopefully she has some confidence now, play the tennis you can Sam. 2 Aussie women in the 4th round of IW :thumbsu:

Haven't watched any of the coverage this morning, looks I have missed the usual, Djokovic crusing then finding a way to struggle and eventually winning incredibly ugly. Nadal won comfortably although Ferrero's loss against monaco surprised me but then again ferrero hasn't shown anything on hardcourt this year.

Stosur was the underdog with the bookies too, could have made a bit of coin on her.

Could never bet a dollar on her, you'll be setting up for a heart attack, bad enough being a fan, today was a rare easy one.

Jankovic ended up sneaking past Errani.

Clistjers playing Kleybanova now, some good hitting in this one.

Can't believe im saying this, but Im really starting to like Kleybanova. Like really. Not sure what is. Actually i do, it's cause she's fat, but moves incredibly well and gets some incredible angles when she's scrambling. Isn't aesthetically gifted in any department at all, but gets it done. And unlike the rest of the tour, especially the big guns, she doesn't fold like a cheap tent when the pressure is on. She battled through a hip injury and was down 4-0 in the tiebreak against Kim, but reeled off 7 pts and stole it. Didn't watch much of the match, only the last 10 minutes or so, so Kim may have played like shit but Kleybs is impressing me. Just needs to get some consistency in her game and sustain her play tournament to tournament.

Another early one tommorow, Molik first on Court 4, Stosur 2nd on Stadium 3.

And in random doubles news, Molik and Svetlana Kuznetsova are teaming up again at Miami.
