With the Bushies having just won there 7th in a row i thought it was time to offer a thorough description on the key players who have been responsible for this rare run of form.
I enjoy the many insightful posts on big footy but it is obvious that the majority of users are from the city and do not get a chance to comment accurately on the players from the Bushies as they are rarley seen.
Im from the Shepparton area and am an avid fan of the Bushies, i have seen them about six times this year and get reports on games missed.
Here are my thoughts on the guys who's names would have been thrown up at various clubs. There are quite a few in the list and of course not all will be drafted but in previous years where the club has been succesfull a lot of guys have been taken.
Criticisms welcomed, but here are my thoughts:
Ben McEvoy: 199cm, 90kg: the obvious top choice and most highly rated player at the club. Never out marked, fantastic on the floor, obviously a leader as VC captain. a genuine top tenner.
Dawson Simpson: 205, 97. super mover for his size, gets first hand on the footy consistently at stoppages. develooping around the ground, endless potential. near certain to go.
Ash Hockey: 181, 79: supreme midfilder of the group. oozes class and always uses the ball effectively. big enough motor, also quick enough. kicks goals and will be drafted, not sure of the number.
Ryan Normington: 185, 77: Much alike to hockey, better over head though. kicks the ball very effectively, particularly over long distances. good up forward and has a body with much development. top thirty.
Thomas Rockliff. 182. 82: New kid on the block, only played 7 games but has slotted straight in. predominatly up forward, but also midfield. movement not at full range due to leg injury that hampered pre-season. very smart, under 17 but is eligible. played vic 15's, 16's. r/up to scott selwood 15's b+f, for stacks up. rough show this year, top twenty 08.
Daniel Boyle: 184, 86: Quickest player in the squad. plays hb and has been creating a lot of dash. kicks the ball wonderfully, went to ss last year. been bog last two weeks and in best the two prior. good size, outside chance.
James Saker: 190, 85. u/19 player, second quickest in squad. playing key back and generally shuts down opponent. kicking is improving and drive is very important. not overly strong overhead. has light body but will fill out, late draft, more probable to be a rookie chance.
Matt Hebbard:187, 86. u/19 player backman, plays tall due to strength overhead. offers drive and always beats opponent. has ablity to go forward. kicks very well. late draft, rookie.
Tim McIntyre: 177, 74. hasnt been playing but came back with four goals v cannons. very strong, good balance and top notch skills. played for NSW with some success. late draft hope.
Dean Terlich: 186, 84: plays forward, very solid over head and has ability to find goals. skills bring otheres into game. has been out for a few weeks but played nationals,. late draft, rookie.
Matthew Deledio. 184, 82: Very strong bodied midfielder who is also more than capable up forward with great marking skills. kicking is up to standard, is a fine looking athlete with a brother in the big time, rookie chance.
