Yeah, needs something unexpected.

Women's water polo best chance but that is a toss of a coin. Won't surprise if it is a penalty shoot out.

Cycling sprint. But the Dutch would be favourite. Maybe there's something else on the track?

Hull would be an outside chance, but you never know. It happened in the men's race. Women's javelin an outside chance too.

We have a lady in the weightlifting 81kg who is in the mix for a medal, but probably not quite gold material. She would need to bump her PB of 263kg up to 270kg.

Not sure if there is anything else?
Rousseau is the platform dive world champ but he needs to get through the semis
Madison Keeney is an outside chance in the springboard final in an hour
Opals won't beat the US but have a decent chance at bronze
Beach volleyball bronze match is on later

We would want to stay 3rd on the tally in front of the frogs and Poms. So whatever gets that done because they both will win more

Best predictions had us at 15 gold/54 total medals & 5th nation on the table.

We are already over-achieving on 2/3 of those stats.

Still waiting on Ch9 to show a replay of Lisa Carrington winning another gold.

Instead they are showing Cathy Freeman winning a gold in Sydney in 2000, like we haven't seen that a hundred times before.
Mate we have spoiler tags for a reason

46 TOTAL MEDALS SO FAR (Best ever 58 - Sydney 2000)

MEDAL GUARANTEED
W Water-Polo

HIGH CHANCE OF MEDAL
W Javelin - Little
M Sprint - Richardson

SOME CHANCE OF MEDAL
W Basketball
W 1500m - Hull
W Diving - Keeney
M Diving - Rousseau
W Madison - Baker/Manly
W Beach VB - Clancy/Mariafe

and a handful of cycling & weightlifting events I have no clue about...

You know this WR/OR crap in the sprints seems a little cheap to me.

Seems to be more reliant on the track then basically every athlete doing PBs.

Isn't it unfair if you go first in this sprint race
Not really, a lot of tactics involved.

Some prefer to go to the front some prefer to go for the overtake.

You can always attempt to force your opponent to take the lead as well.

Something Anna Mears used to be very good at.

He's pretty powerful. Not sure he'd have it to beat Levreyson if he gets through though

Yeah he has been flying over the past few days. I believe the commentators said something about him being the in-form cyclist heading into the Games.

Great first sprint. Such a tight race. I'm heading to the velodrome in an hour so hopefully watching him go for gold. Still needs another win obviously.

You've been our good luck charm so please get there ASAP.

Before they changed the rules I remember watching sprints where the two riders would stop dead as neither wanted the front position and both were trying to force the other to go to the front. The balance was remarkable and it was entertaining in its own way.

The American women are on a 58 game winning streak and 72-3 all time at the olympics.

Almost pointless to have the tournament at this stage.
I was talking about medals. If the US thrash AUS (as expected) the Opals will still play for the bronze.
