He basically played an openers innings in the first innings, considering how fast the first 3 got out.
The top 3 all have big question marks - and I just don't see why we keep going back to Bancroft and Harris. Their very recent form has been underwhelming too.

If there’s a thought in him opening in the test he has to open in the next A game

That was my understanding of what is happening and the top 4 are rotating
Harris/Konstas opening this game with Bancroft/McSweeney to open the next game

Why are we bothering with Bancroft and Harris let’s be real Bancroft was never being picked after he blasted the bowlers come on let’s call a spade a spade
Surely Marnus to open rather than the first gamer who hasn’t batted there at first class level. Maybe the switch the ML needs to reignite his career a bit as his last few years have been so-so at best.
Smith at 3 and McSweeney at 4 or the other way round.

Smith will not be batting 3! Have you seen how bad he’s batting? McSweeney will open and whether he opens or bats 3 hes still new but he has experience around him

If you can play number 3, which McSweeney does, you can open.
Heck, it's not like McSweeney isn't used to coming out at 1-**** all. He plays for the deadbacks.

I'd argue that if he carries his bat for the remainder of this match, he's locked in the opening position regardless of the 2nd test.

It will be a baptism of fire for McSweeney but I have no doubt that he has to open in the first test. He will eventually settle st 3 or 4 but for right now he is the only reasonable option.
Harris, Bancroft and Renshaw will never make it as test players.

On the strength of this first Australian A game (bat off), McSweeney's nose is so far in front it's not funny.

Agree or he may be our next great opener plenty have gone up and been successful Langer for one, Watson was pretty successful too and there’s others. Green has to come back and he should slot in at 5 when he’s back (Head shifts down to 6 or Smith might)
