Do they?
I know the media does but I get the feeling that if we have Marsh/Watto it will be Shaun

Could well just be the media - I have to remember that their website is usually just opinion pieces with stuff like this.

I really wouldn't be surprised if we went with Watson at 3 and Marsh at 6 though. I'd rather we didn't but I could see the reasoning.

Still people lack the acceptance that we wont have blokes averaging high 40's in shield cricket that are knocking down the door. It just isnt going to happen anytime soon. Players will be averaging lower and getting gigs in the test team.

Fixed. After Mitch Marsh getting two tests, no-one can have any illusions anymore.

The same Shaun Marsh who averages 35 in FC cricket and 32 in Tests? Wow the cupboard must be bare. How could Hughes possibly be behind him in the pecking order?

Hughes would need a score to be considered, and to not get out to a spinner.

Marsh needs to show he does it for consistent games, not just ONE.

Guess if Hughes makes 150 and gets out to a spinner he can't be in the team then? Your logic on so many things is flawed.

If he makes 150 that is good going. The issue has been every yob spinner in the country has been getting him out, and then he compounds that by showing very little footwork in his dismissal against NSW against a quick. I rate Hughes, I do, but for mine he needs a good 12 months. Needs a season playing domestically in the sub continent in our off season too. Doesn't have natural footwork against slow bowlers.

You do realise that they have their domestic seasons the same time as ours?

Exactly, the one thing I am so over is these players being so rubbish against spinners. Go to India and get some practice. If you miss a few Shield games, so be it!

And breach their state contracts? Don't think it's that simple.

That is the point. There comes a time where we have to be flexible with these state contracts. If they miss a game or two it isn't the end of the world. You would be talking MAYBE 5 players, if that a season. Go over there play some cricket in India for 4 weeks (which they could do while the Big Bash or the Metrador Cup is on). This way they have the best of both worlds, not missing Shield cricket, and they need to improve against spin. Enough of getting out to spinners, develop your game against spinners.

If you were an IPL team...why would you pick him?

Well, whether they want him is another thing, but I'd be doing my best to get the experience if I can if I were him. His limited overs record is quite good on paper (albeit his strike rates are kind of low), so it might fool someone into giving him a shot.

Given the overseas players available and the limits on them playing, I doubt whether he would get a look in.
