Yep I totally agree. I'm thinking one of the back-up big positions goes to either Thon or Duop to give us a legit centre to back-up Jock. If the player selected from those two can contribute then all of a sudden with or without Ben that's a pretty well rounded squad to select from. Xavier Cooks can defend much taller players and expose bigs with his quickness and play making ability on offence potentially too.

I wouldn’t call Thon a true centre. I’d have him in the team but he will get abused down low.

Which of our bigs won't get abused if we are being honest? If we run into Serbia (Jokic), France (possibly Embiid, not to mention Gobert and Wembanyama) and even Greece (Giannis - this one feels more manageable to an extent, and his teammates are of a far lesser calibre to the other two) we are probably just going to have to find a way to beat them at the other end. I don't like our chances against a French side with Joel Embiid in particular...

Unfortunately we only have one Nick Kay

Well despite that all mostly being nonsense, I'm sold. Giddey will become the first ever player to rack up 5 50/40/90 seasons.

Lock it in.
poor man's Luka

but Luka's three percentage ain't high*

asterisk caveat is for Kobe level of difficult shooting (from deep tho) which is defended at peak-contest-level, and it opens up his midrange and rim shooting which is nigh peerless in efficiency

Luka fast-track to Mt Rushmore but would like him to have a few years defending at a level of Deni Avijdor level

We should have a lot of passable to good three point shooters and be fine. What we will be missing post ingles is the absolute elite three shooter. That doesn’t hurt as much when everyone is good enough.

Now it would be nice to have genuine elite shooter or two, especially if Simmons was to get healthy and back to his best given he’s a non shooter the better shooters you can surround him with the better he can be. Unlikely Simmons plays for us though.
it is not in Australian basketball DNA to me AAU jnr ball-hogs , so look to three-men , 4-men, 5-men to be the lights-out man paradoxically , Ryan Broekhoff could shoot at Frankston and Russia and Europe but getting playing time and nuances of NBA volume opportunity , require Quin Snyder to harness the potential of Ingles and a dearth in 1/2/3 spots at Utah

that all said, Patty Mills was elite as reserve point and could have more than adequately held down a starting gig for many seasons like that Charlotte/Boston guy

not in Aussie dna to do the high volume numbers

That's why the key will be the defensive pressure up the court to stop easy entries into the post. The likes of Exum, Green, Daniels and Thybulle need to assist our bigs by disrupting passing lanes and be super quick to double team when possible. Clearly defending the gun centres particularly when Landale is not on the court is our biggest weakness on the defensive end.

good take , and negates the potential pressure Delly could bring ,. this is super D in backcourt , hide J-Gidd at 3 defensive like a Deni Avijdor (tho not w Deni's ability)

not forgetting Ben's DPoY ability

Simmons could knock down the three at VBL Knox u16 u18 Monteverdi and and closer line may give him confidence

Steph and Harden were the actual kill-shots for Ben on Brett Brown's perimeter

Confirmed on 5aa Simmons wants to play at the World Cup. It all depends on his rehab. According to Gooj, there is a probability he will be attending the first camp.

It all depends on his rehab

Ben is with a new representative agency , he can't afford bad PR , Ben won't be at World's and only a slight chance of playing in Paris

phenomenal talent, Brett Brown Dave Simmons and his godfather LSU assistant Headcoach and easternsuburbs catholic school DeLaSalle DavePatrick alumnus were nothisbestconsuls, neither maverick Carter and rich Paul at ClutchSports™ with all the hooha of him not getting fiscally compensated at LSU(see:Clutch™agenda) alot of folks had their paws out trying to get theirs of/off the 17yo wünderkind from BoxHill

By not playing is bad PR
it will be explained by his rehab

i agree , not participating would hurt his appearance to the regular punter

i am for Ben , Ben's choice , Ben's freedom , his life is to live how he chooses , like Nick Kyrgios just 'f' the baying horde and Dawn Fraser who expect you to win for them or Australia , i hope Ben does what Ben wants and has to do for himself and himself only

his Kareem-hookshot tells which side he writes with ,
especially when young , it is relatively easy to develop the fulcrum-catapult linedrive shooting with the opposite hand (see:Ben) , but try to take an Olympics-level clay-target shooting(shooter) from his opposite side and train all the fine-tune motorskill coordination in his abdomen/buttox/centre(core) so he swivels micro-millimetre accurately ... won't work to the ultimate potential when dominant or natural side of body is the opposite side

- ' but blackcat you said Knox/Monteverdi he could shoot , '
indeed I did , but he had no dribble package and shake'n'bake , junior levels afforded him axiomatic <separation> so his bottom half did zero work to prepare to shoot , and allignment was never hindered , NBA pros defend everything above 30% on the perimeter , and Brad Stevens dares you to shoot and collapses Baynes to 3second violations

Simmons becoming more active on IG again. The yanks blasted him for have a photo of Philly/Celtics game in his story.
That was fantastic. Suck shit Philly, the Richmond of the NBA

If Ben does play then I think Cooks would be the one to make way for him or perhaps neither Thon or Duop makes the team and Ben plays the small centre role. For what its worth Ive been on some of the Nuggets supporter social media. They seem to be big fans of the improvement Jack White has shown this year and say his 3 point shot improved dramatically as the year went on. Considering he shot the 3 at over 40% in the G League (where the 3 point line is NBA distance) I could see him not only being a surprise inclusion but playing a significant role potentially. He's obviously great defensively so its a matter of how well he is hitting three pointers in training and exhibition games.

New team based on ben proving he is fit before the exhibition games begin. If not Cooks makes the team. Nuggets fans seem to think Jack White is considered an elite shooter by Nuggets coaches which is the basis of him being added to the team.
