Re: Gridiron Victoria

While we're on the topic of Victorian Gridiron, have noticed on the Croydon Rangers website that there is going to be a Seniors night game (4pm start) on Independence weekend:

Independence Day party in the club rooms after the game!

Please note: Sunday’s game between the Buccs and Miners has moved to 12 midday!

USA Independence Day weekend 3/4 July looks certain to be a big one at the Croydon Rangers, who host the round of matches for Gridrion Victoria.

Saturday night July 3rd features the home town Rangers vs the defending Vic Bowl champions the Monash Warriors. Kick off at 4pm.

After the match Independence Day Party in the Croydon Rangers Club Rooms.

We encourage all players and coaches to attend! Bring along your friends and family the will be open and food available.

Hi Guys, Been looking at this site, been meaning to post for a while but finally got around to it. If anyone has any questions regarding gridiron in Victoria, or just general gridiron questions, gimme a holler.Cheers, Dan LevinPresidentGridiron Victoria

Hey,
Just wondering if there was a league or even just a monthly social game or something that happens in Tasmania.

you may need to poke around the net a bit, Tazzie.

The Gridiron Australia website says that American Football is played in every state and territory in the country.

The only team I could find with a brief search of google was the Glenorchy Raiders Gridiron Club.

You can call them up and see if you can get some info about joining them, or if they're not your local, find out if there is a league setup in Tassie and a team closer to home.

Finally, there is a Australian Gridiron Leagues' forum called The Bear which may provide info or you can ask questions as well.

Good luck.

Cheers for that, I'll give them a call.

The Victorian State Championship Bowl game was played over the weekend in Croydon (outer Eastern suburbs) with resident NFL BF poster, PeterBuch74's former team, the Warriors, (relocated from Nunawading to Monash), defeating the most consistent team of the season, the Bay City Buccaneers, 23-14.

Wrong phone number I just tried it.

I'm most likely playing QB/WR for the Rockingham Vipers aka. the former Rockingham Dolphins here in the Gridiron West.

Might have to get in touch with Gridiron Australia then and see if they can point you in the right direction. From my brief look at their website, I couldnt find any contact details for football in Tassie, but they do say there is some sort of presence there.

Victorian league averaging an e-mail a day asking about how/where to play. Also, check for our upcoming ad on One HD...hopefully airing in Dec/Jan through to the Super Bowl

Sydney Uni won the Waratah Bowl for the Seniors...again.

But that's not why I'm bumping a post from Decemeber.

I'm going to be playing my first (and due to my age, last) season in the NSWGFL Colts Division starting this Saturday for Wollongong against UTS.

I'll be honest that I'm not the best player out there but I knew I'd regret it forever if I didn't give it a shot for one season.

Anyone here at BF involved in the NSW side of things?

Sorry for the double post.

So we beat UTS Spartans 20-14 and we tied with last years defending champions Sutherland Seahawks 14-14 and later today we play the Penrith City Chiefs.

There are very windy videos up on the teams fanpage - http://www.facebook.com/album.php?i...es/Wollongong-junior-brumbies/132616863471557 and here are the photo's that I promised the person that PM'd me at the start of the Month, Mostly from my own account - Will have to get onto coach about getting them up on the fanpage.

Yay, Kick return - This was taken about 3 seconds before...

...Me and a buddy find out what happens when you run at someone bigger than you.

This wouldn't be complete without a shot of yours truly.

Schedule as of Week 2 (vs Sutherland Seahawks)

Illawarra Mercury - Thursday the 9th of March, 2011

hope you continue onto the mustangs, slog. a strong football presence in the illawarra is important to GNSW and what's needed is more colts with football experience progressing onto the seniors. it's the only way the mustangs will improve. you look at the core group of lions who have won 8 straight GNSW championships, and you'll find that the core group of players came through their Cubs program. same thing needs to happen with the progression of brumbies into mustangs.

I just wanted to come back and address this - I have thought about it and I'm still on the fence about weather or not I want to, I think I'm going to see how I pull up after the Juniors season is over and then again It was suggested to me that I take the 2011 season off and come back next year after I've had some time to workout and get physically prepared for it - As soft as that sounds.

I kept meaning to come back to BF and give you guys an update but I've had at least 4 Football related activities a week (and been learning to play a new position) and my net time has been limited because of that.

We shutout the Titans 28-0 in a game that started raining 5mins after I turned up and didn't let up until just after we finished packing up - Was truly one of the greatest few hours of my life but that may because while pass blocking a DE I saw the Linebacker coming on a blitz over his outside shoulder and pancaked the hell out of him (I don't get many moments to brag about while playing on the line, So I'm making the most of this one :thumbsu:)

As a consequence to playing our epic rain game our field was closed on us for the following Saturday so we made the trip up to UWS Kingswood for a Friday Night Lights game (And as a major fan of the show I was super excited for) against the Trojans which we lost 26-24 (or maybe 28-26, I'm not sure) I'd like to put it down to a perfect storm of having our practice field closed on Monday during the floods and the unexpected news that we had to go and travel to Sydney in 2 days time and play on turf (Which most of the team had never played on before) and our defence getting burnt on the last play of the first half for 6 and never recovering - But in reality the Trojans were just a better team on the day and we have to learn from that, They are a much better than than they're record suggests.

Tomorrow we take on Bondi, They beat Sydney Uni last week to sit alone at the top at 5-0 and it's easily our toughest game of the year - But I think our wake up call thanks to Trojans is what's going to light a fire under our asses to get us all the way to the Title.

I've been on the lookout for more pictures and videos to share and I'm noticing a fair few cameras out there but damn it if I can only find a few - Although there would be close to 0 if it weren't for facebook.

So a few pics from the Titans game and a video from the Trojans game.

GV season kicks off in around 16 days! Cannot wait for it, a two division league this season after 5 clubs started up in the off season (two div 1 sides are fielding a second team with 3 brand new teams) and Ballarat as an exhibition side
