My boy Ray pulling off a big move, some Oscar worthy acting from him to make that advantage work along with some help from Feras.

It probably won't make him too popular with the people that weren't in on it but Val took it pretty well so maybe the rest of them will too.

Ozzys little head shake when he gives it up gets me every time.

Not as infamous but this also happened, albeit with redemption island in play

Amazon winner Jenna Morasca and Burton in Pearl Islands are the only two in US Survivor to successfully give up immunity without incident, prior to them bringing in fire making at final 4.

Quality TV and quality performances. No problem with faking feeling down and wanting out from me. Real Johnny Fairplay areas and that was also top notch TV. Ray seems like the kind of guy who can win people back from a game perspective too and still get their vote

Val definitely had the right read with not wanting to go along with the plan too. Surely some sort of alarm has to be going off when Feras who you know has an idol is dictating that every single person has to vote Ray. If Ray wants out tell him to call a boat any time he wants and jump on - you dont need to go through with a vote as we saw just a few days back with Scott

I suspect that is why Feras starting leaning hard on the idea that "Ahh my mate is really down and out, at least lets give him something and let him have this large unanimous vote to his name"

Which really should have rung alarm bells for everyone out there.

Like in what world is asking to be voted out and everyone doing it a feather in your cap?

I think Feras isn’t going to be able to keep his mouth shut about his role in the whole play, he seemed to be trying to keep up appearances as it was all Ray and he was also in the dark at tribal council, but I doubt his ego/game will let it stay that way.

Having said that, Feras and Kirby are now in a much better position then they were at the start of the episode, and with an idol and another challenge that may favor Rhi or Kirby, they may be able to idol out someone next vote and then get through to final 4 intact.

I think feras doing the whole “let’s all say something nice about him” struck right on that empathetic chord with them. From the outside watching it seems absolutely stupid to me that that worked but I guess it did?
I mean no one wants to be That Guy not following along when it’s such a public declaration

True, strong groupthink psychology.

Poor Val was the only one who saw the chance but just couldn’t do it.

I actually think (from what we saw anyway) it was dumb that no one thought of the idol, fair enough they didn’t think of this insane advantage but feras had the idol, if just one of the alliance thought “maybe we Chuck a single split vote just in case feras whips his idol out” Val’s still here.

That’s exactly what that conversation between Mark and Val at the well showed. No-one wanted to be seen as “that guy”.

It's an amazing play by Ray. I don't feel as hyped about it coming off as I expected though, the way it was done felt a bit grubby.

Doesn't seem like there's going to be any blowback at this stage for him though.

Whilst I agree if he voted Kirby or Feras out he’d be weakening his alliance wouldn’t he? Currently Feras, Ray, Kirby and Rhi (with Kitty occasionally switching sides) versus the others was a 4-5 split that he was on the wrong side of, now it’s 4/4 I believe.

What did he have to lose, he's at the bottom of the alliance any way, might as well go for broke, and he did vote with them in removing Jaden, so he is sitting in the middle either way, i just don't think Val was the big move to put on his resume.

Getting Val out was a great move. She is a big player and arguably the leader of that other side.

Voting out Feras or Kirby would have been the biggest own goal imaginable. They are is only two working allies at this point, why on earth would you vote them out and come back to a tribe with zero allies when the alternative is coming back in the majority still with this big kove under your belt. Would be insane

Yeh don’t agree at all.

Val was the leader of that other alliance, it’s a big move for him and means he doesn’t further sink into a minority in a move that would likely have pissed everyone off.

How come the other guy who wanted out, just cancel vote and see ya later, but Ray, it's time to vote ?
I think Feras worked hard to spin a tale about Ray being a super fan so let's give him the send off he deserves, it would mean the world to him etc etc. Getting everyone involved in the 'say nice things about Ray' bit was really clever.

Also voting him out means he gets on jury. Walk out = no jury

I googled it. I dunno how up to date this is though.
  • While the aforementioned rulebook is currently in effect as of May 31, 2010 (up through Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains), these are the rules that are added as of the latest season:
    • At the Survivor: Nicaragua Reunion Show, it was revealed that after the controversial back-to-back quits of NaOnka Mixon and Kelly Shinn, the producers decided that starting from Survivor: Redemption Island, not only is quitting considered a violation of their contract, but that this would result in the producers deliberating the contestant's exclusion from the jury (if the quitter left the game during the jury phase of the game) and the withholding of their consolation prize.
    • If a tribe wishes to go to Tribal Council after winning an Immunity Challenge, they may do so, as long as this choice is a unanimous decision.[2][3]
