What exactly was the point of Australia playing Scotland?

The Scots put the Aussies on a ground that looked more like it belongs in a village cricket comp than anything that comes close to resembling an International standard ground.

Think of it the other way, The Scots would get a lot more out of playing Australia than the Australians would get for playing Scotland. It's a good tack on to the English series, and gives the Scots a better quality competition then just playing the Dutch and Irish. Also, seeing as though Scotland did fairly well in the T20WC, what's wrong with them getting games against tougher sides.

The Grange is the main venue for Scotland, they may not have the resources and funding the build stadiums that compare to England. Plus, with Edinburgh being so far north, grounds would be hard to maintain for sporadic games in the cold.

This three match series is good for the development of cricket, hopefully we see more of this in the future.

If memory serves, these matches were supposed to be vs Ireland, but Ireland pulled out for financial reasons, and it was then that CA that approached Scotland.

If this is correct, then full credit to CA. I'd much rather us play development series against Scotland, Netherlands, Nepal, Namibia, etc that play another ****ing series against England or India.

Why not?

We rarely play these teams

Zimbabwe beat us at home a couple years back, would do alot for those sides

If this series wasn't on the same tour as the English series, I would have recommended Australia take a slightly lesser strong team.
NZ did the same thing by playing UAE during the IPL without their main stars.
