Saturday has sold out, tickets still available for Sunday.

Having been before, i dont get how World Series Wrestling makes their money.

The venue in Melbourne only holds 500 seats. If average tickets are $100 per seat, they would only make $50,000 per night. Then you factor the cost of bring talent from USA to perform. What would be a conservative amount per wrestler $10,000 USD? About $15,000 AUD, ticket sales for all 3 nights would barely break even to pay the talent, assuming around 8 international wrestlers are annouced. Therefore profit would only be made on merch and dvds - which is a declining market.

Anyway, am going on Sunday, as it would be a good opportunity to see AEW talent live.

Sunday's sold out now too...

From MCW

To our dedicated fans

As a follow up from a couple of days ago, and after a lot of deliberation, we are making the difficult decision to cancel MCW Fallout next week.

Just because we could run the show under the current circumstances doesn’t mean we should. We believe we need to lead by example in these uncertain times, and not running an event in front of fans is the best way to do so.

We have fans self-isolating already, and we know some of you live with vulnerable family members and have concerns for their health during this time. So, we’d rather eliminate one potential cause for concern entirely.

This isn’t a decision that we’ve made lightly, as there are fans travelling from interstate and overseas for the show, and it will result in financial losses for quite a few people, including us.

But overall, we believe that your health and safety is more important at the moment.

We will begin processing refunds as soon as we can, we ask that you please be patient while we do this, we’re a small team after all.

If you’d like to support us during this time, feel free to subscribe MCW Encore - https://vimeo.com/ondemand/mcwencore/ - we will be popping up some goodies to help brighten you up during this time.

If you have any additional concerns, please message us and we will do our best to answer your questions.

Please stay safe, wash your hands (for as long as it takes Danny Psycho to do his pose on the top rope), don’t lick any handrails on the train, and we’ll see you soon.

Cheers
MCW Management

Sad, but it's the right call.

I guess the World Series Wrestling shows will be cancelled soon too.

WSW is the same weekend as Ballroom Brawl, so they might have a few weeks before they have to make a decision.

In all honesty I can't see them getting Ballroom Brawl away in June now.

It appears that social restrictions will continue for a while now and indoor events will probably still be capped through Winter. I'm receiving notifications of local concerts scheduled for July that are already being cancelled.

On a side note it was good to see Elliot Sexton (Brendan Vink) make an appearance on Raw this week. Was a losing effort but still pretty cool to get a spot on the main show; especially when he hasn't even appeared on an NXT TV show yet!

Ballroom Brawl has to be cancelled. Sco mo just annouced weddings restricted to 5 people max.

They cant put on an event without a crowd, let alone having a rumble event.

AUD$8 (or $5 Fite Credits)

Has anyone heard anything about Death Match Down Under?

On one hand, I'm not the biggest fan of death match wrestling - but on the other hand, I'm a big fan of some of the talent they've announced, who aren't what I'd call death match wrestlers (Robbie Eagles, Airbender Royce.)

I'd be keen to check it out... but I'm buggered if I want to spend the entry fee only to walk out during the first match because someone smashes a light tube on someones head.

I'm friggen amped for MCW Homecoming next week. At least I know that MCW will always be a fun, relatively wholesome show!

From what I saw on their IG story that night, I’m pretty sure only one match was an actual “death match”. A couple of the other matches had weapons and a few matches were just straight wrestling

For those interested. Will probably check out Summer Series on Fite.

Their first show is up on independentwrestling.tv if you wanted to check it out. There's also a few cards from PWA on there as well, amongst stuff from PWG, Chikara, IWA:MS and heaps of other indy promotions in the US, Canada, Japan and Europe.

Thanks - I think I might do that.

I think the Arrow is a good venue, and I don't mind the notion of going to the city for wrestling. I don't imagine MCW ever not being my number 1 cos the Thornbury Theatre is literally 5 minutes from me - but I'd love another promotion to check out that isn't at Ferntree Gully.

edit: I didn't realise you couldn't just buy one show on demand on independentwrestling.tv - you have to buy a subscription.

I looked it up and saw the match listings:

  • UGWA Total Violent Title, Cut Can and Gusset Plate Board Death Match: Gweedo vs Joel Bateman
  • Barbed Wire Board Death Match: Raw Beef (2 Krayzee and RxsP) vs Mad Dog and Michael Weaver
  • 100 Lighttube Death Match: Damian Rivers vs Callen Butcher
On second thoughts, I don't need to bother with garbage wrestling.

Well aren’t I dumb as dogshit?

Using the earlier link I tuned into Fite to watch the PCW show tonight.

Took me 45 minutes til I went to check what Twitter was saying... and realised the free show I was watching wasn’t the live show that’s on tonight

Tbh I probably wouldn’t have stumped up the $5US, cos I have no familiarity of PCW, and I’m going to MCW next week. I’m only pissed cos my NJPW sub is active for 2 more days and I would’ve been watching their show had I realised I was watching the wrong PCW show.

I don't know how many people check this thread - seems to only ever be 3-4 of us writing in here.

I just wanted to say that if you've ever appreciated any of my thoughts on wrestling, if you've ever agreed with any of my thoughts and enjoy similar wrestling to me - spend the 7 or 8 bucks or whatever it costs and watch the premiere screening of MCW Homecoming on Monday night.

I've just gotten home, and while Psycho vs Dusk and Avary (who I love) vs some random chick were poor, everything else was amazing.

Emman vs Royce vs Ritchie was a great opener.

The Brat Pack vs the Natural Classics told an amazing story (I'm only bummed that there's no other fans here to discuss it with!)

Caveman Ugg defended his Intercommonwealth title against a surprise opponent, and while it wasn't a pure comedy match, it was one of the most fun matches I've seen. Think Yano matches, but you're watching Yano do it for the first time, not the hundredth.

And the main event? ****ing wow. I know Brooksy and Slex are off to ROH as soon as the 'rona allows them - **** I'm going to miss them. The three stages of hell main event was one of the best matches I've seen. You'll know which wrestling websites are lazily only reviewing WWE, NJPW and AEW matches in their match of the month/match of the year polls, cos if reviewers are seeking out the top indie matches you'll read a bit about this I think.

Highlights clip of this show for those interested:

according to PWInsider.com, Matty Wahlberg and Steph De Lander have signed with NXT

Steph De Lander is a beast - and is besties with Indi Hartwell. I think she'll do really well.

I wasn't able to make it to MCW Ballroom Brawl on Saturday, so I've watched the debut of the stream tonight. I know that local wrestling live vs streamed is like chalk and cheese, but having watched the stream I'm not disappointed that this was the show that I missed.

At the point I started watching, it was painfully clear that they only had 3 main eventers - one of them, Slex, had just signed with ROH; one of them, Brooksy, signed with ROH just after the first show I went to (and just after Brooksy became champ); the third of them got #SpeakingOut'ed.

And so we've seen them bringing in plenty of interstaters and old-timers - Menero, Broderick, Moretti, Troy; we saw a renewed focus on Lochy Hendricks, who is about the most polarising figure I've known in wrestling since the Young Bucks around 4 years ago. There seems to be 2 groups - older fans who lived through the World's Friendliest Bastards with Krackerjack, followed by the feud, seem quite invested in the character; but for newer fans who don't have that longterm investment in the character, it's worse than X-Pac heat. I came much later than that, but I saw a lot of their feud on the streaming service before they moved/changed it, and he just makes me want to switch off.

We also had Danny Psycho challenging Brooksy - who didn't compete, which really hurt the quality of the show. (Of course you give him a break because of the war he had a month ago, but gee the show suffers). I think Psycho is another one of those guys who people don't invest in. He has some backers among the old-time fans, but they've done nothing to make him interesting.

And then we got to the Ballroom Brawl and as it progresses I think you're thinking Gore could run the table, then you're thinking Menero ("they've brought him in for a reason"), then there's half a second where you wondered whether Royce Chambers' losing streak culminates in him winning the Brawl and then the title in what (I think) would be his first win in MCW, and then I was thinking Moretti (who didn't end up entering)...

All the while I'm thinking 2 things:
1) "It's incredible how un-starstudded this rumble match is, can't we get Aussie Open down here, and why is Robbie Eagles posting on twitter about a lack of bookings while MCW aren't using him?"
2) "nup, while people will take to fun characters like Mikey Broderick, they want their stars/champs coming from internally - unless it's a big name like Robbie Eagles or Ospreay, they want to have watched their stars grow. The star from this match has to come from the tag division, not from the random guys we don't care about."

And then that's exactly what they delivered. Which I didn't think for a single second was going to happen watching it.

So not only was it a well-booked match - but in putting people like Menero, Moretti and Hendricks on the undercard... well, it's almost like they booked an ordinary card including some reasonable name interstaters that we've heard of, but have no investment in as part of the ultimate culmination to the end of the Ballroom Brawl. If that's what they've done - if they've flown in people like Menero, if they've brought in people like Moretti as part of a 4-week (or at the very least a 3-hour) long-con to cause the crowd to give Mitch Waterman an even bigger pop? That's ballsy as shit, but I reckon it paid off. As much as it wasn't an immensely fun show to sit and watch at home, the end of the Brawl was pretty excellent

I think we'll find out too if/when they start using Menero or Moretti again.

Just back from tonight's MCW Fallout show.

Of the 6-7 MCW shows I've been to it was probably the weakest, but it's still stupidly good fun.

I think we need Slex and Adam Brooks giving us some sort of an indication of how long they plan to be around for. Tough in the case of Brooksy when he's the champ, but it feels just a little awkward when you go to these shows, you know that of the regulars Brooks and Slex are miles in front of everyone else, so you don't really have a clue who else you're supposed to be getting behind.

I also don't think it helps that, beyond Brooks and Slex, the next closest they have to main event superstars aren't particularly exciting - we saw Danny Psycho in the main event tonight, who's a good worker but not a star. You could say the same about Jake Andrewartha (although not as good a worker, but more than made up for with size). I liked that Mitch Waterman was put in a featured match vs Slex, which was easily the match of the night - but it's hard to see where the main event talent is coming from when Brooks and Slex leave. Deciding not to use D*wie J*mes was the right decision, but **** it hurt them, cos he was the only regular they had who was close to main event level once Brooks and Slex leave for ROH. D*wie vs 0spreay is still the best match I've ever seen live... but **** both of them.

I've only been following MCW for about 18 months - but having also watched quite a bit of the back catalogue, I think this is the closest they've been to not really having a star. From Matt Silva (Buddy Murphy), Jonah Rock (Bronson Reed), Elliott Sexton, KC Cassidy (Peyton Royce), Evie (Dakota Kai), Indi Hartwell, to now Slex and Brooks... they've always had at least a couple of people that you knew were a big deal.

Once Slex and Brooks are gone, probably the closest thing they have to a true star is Royce Chambers - but I don't believe he's ever won a match in MCW, and I don't think he'll be in Australia for long beyond COVID. He's already done a DDT tour in Japan, and I have no doubt that you're going to find him in a higher level in Japan (NJPW or NOAH) and/or Europe (RevPro) and/or the US (PWG, and maybe ROH when Slex and Brooks are there) before too long.

nobbyiscool have you seen much of Jett Rouka?

A little bit - he's had some featured tag matches on MCW as part of The Mile High club with Tyson Baxter. I was a bit late to the part to see him as a singles guy in late 2019 when Baxter was out with a knee.

I presume you're asking after his neck injury the other day? Apparently it was ****ing terrifying and he's extraordinarily lucky to still be walking.

Oh wow was it that bad??! I saw it happen, he was just messing about before the show and said he’d aggravated his AC injury, then next thing I know he’s been sent to Emergency
