What a complete shambles. Arnie leaves out players from Asian Cup for the Olympics, then we don’t pick half of them and are going to not even qualify.

Vidmar should be sacked immediately

Zero goals in two matches! Irankunda could have helped. It's always the some problem with our youth stock in these tournaments no attacking power and when we do have it we don't select them. Embarrassing, yes Vidmar should be sacked ASAP!

Under 20's Women's World Cup. Aust girls have lost both matches 0-2 so far vs host nation Colombia on Sun morning and Mexico this morning.

Major skill gap with the 1st touches. Our players might try to control or deflect a pass and it could go anywhere. Mexico players would control the ball, take it away from where our pressure might come from and have time to connect the next pass.

Need to beat Cameroon Saturday morning 8am EST start (broadcast 10 play) and hope to qualify as one of the best 3rd place teams on 3pts.

Groups C, E & F could be the ones that finish with a 3rd place behind us, and although we are -4 on goal difference there's been a few shellackings in the other group games. Group D is a slighter chance. Need to finish 3rd ahead of teams in two of these other groups to go further. France in Group B should beat Fiji and finish on 4 pts.

Cameroon have performed better against the sides that have already beaten us in our group (Group A) going down 0-1 to Colombia and drawing 2-2 against Mexico.

Current standings before the last group game:

As anyone who followed it will know we also lost the 3rd game 0-2 vs Cameroon and finished bottom of the 4 teams in Group A on zero points with a -6 goal difference, i.e. winless and goalless.

As it turned out with the results in the other groups, we would have needed to win 2-0 against Cameroon to go through to the next round to be the last place qualifying team on 3 points as all the other 3rd place qualifiers made it to 4 points, and even then, it would have had to go to our fair play record vs Ghana's fair play record. The other teams with 0 points for the tournament were: Morocco (-6 GD) NZ (-11 GD), Costa Rica (-12 GD) & Fiji (-29 GD).

North Korea (+15 GD) and Japan (+12 GD) from our confederation both got through and finished top of their group with 3 wins out of 3, while South Korea was one of the 3rd place qualifiers to the next round with a win and a draw.

I'll just stick to the positive and mention Naomi Chinnama was the best player over the 3 games. She's not the tallest central defender (1.71m) but she might make the transition to the national team and has moved to Perth Glory from Melbourne City for the upcoming A-League season.

Daniela Galic, who is regarded as the star midfielder, Young Player of the Year in the A-League, didn't attend the tournament because she recently moved to a club in Holland (FC Twente) where she's had some game time off the bench.

Some of the other players in the squad are young enough to compete for the next Women's U-20 World Cup.

Just an update on this. North Korea and Japan have ended up as the finalists for this U20's Women's World Cup tournament to be played on Monday morning in Bogota, Colombia. North Korea knocking out Brazil and USA in the quarters and semis and Japan taking care of Spain and Netherlands.
