Thanks to the Swans, we're back on top of the ladder indefinitely. If we can win tomorrow, we'll be level with Melbourne (assuming they win), and Port and Brisbane will be a game behind us. Here's the ladder:

1 St Kilda 17 13 0 4 1914 1431 133.75 52
2 Brisbane Lions 18 13 0 5 2008 1511 132.89 52
3 Melbourne 17 13 0 4 1793 1445 124.08 52
4 Port Adelaide 18 13 0 5 1949 1580 123.35 52
5 Geelong 17 11 0 6 1588 1372 115.74 44
6 Fremantle 18 11 0 7 1656 1484 111.59 44
7 Sydney Swans 18 10 0 8 1541 1506 102.32 40
8 Essendon 18 10 0 8 1901 1861 102.15 40

:D Great!

We are walking a fine line, though, that % advantage is very, very thin. Need to win to retain top spot, if we lose and Melbourne win, we could be as low as third.

Just realised what I wrote - "as low as third". What a great year, if 3rd spot is a lamentable situation!

...especially if it means

Week one -> V Port Adelaide at AAMI
Week two -> V Team from lower 8 in Melb
Week three -> V Brisbane at the Gabba

The team that finishes in 3rd after R22 is finished.

last time I looked at the ladder, Melbourne was on top.

There is no hope that the Saints will be on top indefinately, what a crazy comment. That kind of thing just doesn't happen at St Kilda.

Saints will be lucky to make preliminary finals week...

Your post count is low, so I am assuming you are new here. I will only explain this once, thenm you get reported -

The team boards are not to be used for trolling or pot shots by posters who do not support the team in question. If you want to troll, use the main board, there are plenty of Saint-bashing threads there, usually .

Respect the team in question when you enter a team board, please.

This was made during the middle of the round, before Melbourne beat Hawthorn, so Melbourne went above us with that win afterwards. Check the timestamp before replying :|

And St. Kilda are now on top of the ladder, thanks to Port beating the Demons by alot to nothing (it's 104-39 now with 20 minutes still left)...so yeah.

now only if the Dees would do the right thing and beat port, giving us that game buffer over Port and Brissie would be a huge help!
We're 4 points ahead of the Lions now, thanks to West Coast, and will be level with Melbourne and Port on points at the end of the round. But because Melbourne has lost by so much, they're down to 120% or something now and Port are up to about 126%, so we're still on top by 5-6%.

Well SaintsSupporter - what a prophetic thread.

You were right - Saints ARE back on top.

No guarentees that we'll stay there - but Gee this is turning out to be a weird run home to the finals.

My footy tipping is shot - but I am rapt.

SAINTS ON TOP

It's so even that we can sit on top after 19 rounds but still be no certainty to make the top four.

Great feeling though. ;)

Well I am so over tipping - We needed WCE to win and they did, and if they can do it....we can to!

Wouldn't it be fantastic for us to finish on top....My tip is 16 wins 6 losses.

We have put in so much hard work, and I would just feel that our first ten wins would go to waste if we didn't finish top 2.

WTF?

Am I the only footy analyst who reckons that the Lions are beatable up at the gabba?

My honest opinion....

17wins, 5 losses... We dont drop another game >Top spot and we end up playing Brizvegas or Geelong at the MCG or the dome. :D

Win our first final & go straight into a prelim. Win that then play off against Port or melbourne @ the G.

Then its back to Moorabbs for the party. :D

Ye of little faith.

Then we do it all again next year.

Brisbane are definitely beatable at the 'Gabba. The whole thing about them being unbeatable there is just hoodoo they're conveying to try and get under the skin of visiting teams - and, by the sounds of it, it's working.

glad we could help you out in beating the lions on the weekend. Hopefully, you guys can go up there are beat them as well and return the favour, as the result would be a huge help to us, especially if we manage to win our last 3 games.

I hope so. West Coast are a good team and I wouldn't mind seeing them do well this year or next year...behind the mighty Saints, of course :D

you guys will be a force for a long while with your list, but i'm hopeful that with a bit more experience the eagles will be up there with you too.

Believe me, i'll be cheering for the saints these next three weeks. If we can manage to win our three games at Subi and you guys win your three, then we would get a home final at Subi! (still a lot of work to do but it's achievable)
