Slight exaggeration :p

Seriously though, anyone with even a passing interest in AFL as a spectacle will want to see the following teams eliminated ASAP:

Collingwood
St Kilda
Sydney

That is all.

From this point until they're all eliminated (or one wins the Grand Final) I am a combined Geelong/Bulldogs/Failmantle supporter

Who wants to see the boundary-hugging, accuracy sapping gameplan of Micky Malthouse become the blueprint for success? Or see the all-out defence of Grant Thomas hold sway? Or, well, after 2005 we all know what Paul Roos does best - Under-12s style congestion around the ball.

NOT ME!

Who are you backing for the rest of the year?

You didnt watch on the weekend did you? At all.....

Sydney v Carlton was probably the best game all weekend (Cats v Saints was close). Sydney were good and attacked.

Collingwood were awesome.

The Saints aren't great to watch, I agree on that.

Fremantle shit me, because they are Fremantle. Fortunately, they aren't good enough - their feral supporters are almost too much already.

So, in answer to your thread title, no.

Backing Freo is NO option let alone our only  I despise & Hate that mongrel club & hope they lose by a point Friday night from a goal kicked after the siren which resulted from the most controversial free kick in AFL finals history.

It was a good game. Doesn't make up for their overall style though. Sydney are the lowest scoring side of any team in the top 8 after St Kilda.

Collingwood were awesome.

But kicked a woeful 7.15 to half time before making it up slightly to finish with 17.22. And they've been hugging that boundary all year.

Plus the Bulldogs were awful and injury-ravaged :(

I don't mind people wanting Freo to lose this weekend (I do too) because it means Geelong have another chance at driving a nail through boring gameplans.

I was tempted to make a similar thread. Despite the fact that Fremantle supporters have never had the decency to support us in their shit years come finals time(read all but 2006 and 2010), I would suggest we should be out their barracking for them.

They've done well and we shouldnt shit on the team just because their supporters are arrogant pricks walking around as if they know all about building a successful team and what it takes to get there(read Mayneman).

So on that basis, I support Fremantle for the flag, followed by Sydney and then lastly Saints. The rest can go die in a hole.

They werent over the last month where they made a deliberate & obvious attempt to become more attacking....

They also played an attractive brand of footy yesterday. If you want to cling to the past, West Coast have a great midfield .... ;)

Geelong were woefully inaccurate in the last quarter. Woefully. Nothing to do with a boundary hugging game style. If you watched Collingwood on the weekend and thought "yep, negative gamestyle, thats why they miss so many" etc etc - then frankly you are clueless....

Winner of the Geelong v Collingwood Prelim will win it all ...

Always knew you were clueless about footy ... apparently that extends into the tribalism that goes with supporting football ... :p

Fortunately, Freo will get flogged this Friday against a good football team.

Come on guys, I'm sure Fremantle fans would feel the same about us in this situation.

Nah, **** that. I have no problem with the way St Kilda or Collingwood play.

My preference for the GF winner is- St Kilda, Bulldogs, Sydney, Collingwood, Fremantle, Geelong.

You don't find the extra man (or two) drifting across as a loose man in defence all game dull?

They play defense first football. Their dream scenario was the weekends game - get a flat opponent, build a lead, get some rain and sit on the lead ... defend, defend, defend... the fact that they nearly lost despite all those factors should worry them.

If they had lost, I could have envisioned all sorts of shit being piled on them ... and lets be honest, they kinda lost - sure, technically you could pay that free kick - just as technically you could have paid holding (Sampi) or a push (Seaby) in the 2005 GF - but in those scenarios, the umpires are supposed to let the players sort out the result.

The best GF was going to be Pies v Cats, it can't happen now. Saints in the GF, with an adapted Sydney 2005/06 game plan, should make it close.

I would support Freo, but the way the fans are acting at my workplace, coupled with Mark Harveys general arrogance, has turned me decidedly away from that path.

Haha E87.

I would support a WA team over those Prictorians every day of the week. Dont get me wrong though, their attitude makes me sick both the club and the supporters.

Support Freo? Need I remind you of the 'International Eagles Suck Day' they rolled out on ********land ahead of the 06 grand final? Not to mention the tone deaf cow who released the hate song about us as well?

The only difference in the way they act between a Freo supporter and the perceived 'Arrogant Eagles Supporter' is that one teams supporters have seen their team win a premiership.

So in short, Carn the Cats!

I thought they played better against the Cats before the rain came. Anyway, I don't have any real problems with St Kilda, their last few games against Geelong have been excellent. A rematch of last years Grand Final would be a good result IMO.

I'm sorry, but you're going to have to leave.

i'm personally backing freo and sydney. after that, i'd prefer saints or doggies, then geelong.

moving away from wa has mellowed my attitude towards the dockers and they've played some great footy, backing their youngsters in. Des headland was an emergency on the weekend - leaving out an experienced, premiership player (albeit a downhill skiier and a nob) and playing kids like fyfe and roberton takes guts.

and i personally like the swannies. we had great rivalries with them, great games to watch. they just know how to play finals football and kirky is a legend. will play his 200th game in a row this weekend and has helped create an impressive culture where that team always overperforms.

I don't care much for Collingwood personally, but would like them to win the granny because my mate supports them.

I want the Bulldogs to go out in straight sets. They're getting 2 good F/S selections in the draft. The higher they finish, the bigger the bargain they get for them.

I want Freo to get to a prelim, but miss out on a granny. That way they get pretty useless draft picks, yet miss out on what it's like to play in a granny. Win/win as an Eagles supporter.

We can pick great players as late as the rookie draft (Barlow, Broughton) - draft picks matter little.

Good luck with that plan now that the cat is out of the bag, in regards to selecting mature age talent. All clubs are looking nowadays. Freo will be among the last to select this year. I'll give Freo props if they manage it this year though.

Draft picks matter a lot. With aging stars at Freo, the continual influx of talented youngster and selecting the right one's for your future without Pav and Sandi, among other veterans, is crucial. You know this. But for the sake of the thread, you say otherwise.

They're desperately short on KPP after Sandi and Pav finish up. Thats probably 3-4 years away though so they have time to develop if they recruit this year.

I think I want the pies to win whilst Mick is still there and before Buckley takes over. Partly because it was pretty amusing that Buckley left Brisbane to 'win things', then promptly never did, whilst Brisbane did just fine without him thanks very much. Didak is pretty revolting, mind.

Can't support the Saints. Awfully defensive football, and they're a bit too (allegedly) rapey. And Milne has a rat-face. Also, I love how long their losing streak is.

Don't want Geelong to win because if they do, their fans will claim to be the best team ever, which is a pointless and stupid claim. And wouldn't be true anyhow.

The dogs were terrible Saturday night, so not them.

Sydney played well the other day and are quite likable (Roos, Kirk, Jack, Goodes are all pretty inoffensive). Ridiculous amount of stoppage play gets a bit boring though.

And Freo, to be honest, have played attractive, expansive football. And at some level (as a youthful, developing team) should be what we're looking to.

So, the pies, then Freo.
