Trade Requested Bailey Smith

Even with Smith your midfield is still shizen hausen. But at least Geelong is looking into Martin 😅

Your "good authority " seems to have let you down then, because DeKoning is happy to entertain leaving. Might not be until next year but there's a fair chance he does.

Smith would completely alter the midfield dynamics. It gives us the opportunity to leave Smith on the wing and we get another preseason into Holmes so he becomes that burst player in the middle.

And please, if you are going to mock Geelong for inquiring about Jack Martin, just remember all the zingers your mob have brought in over the years. Lobb & Harmes for example . . . they were mighty solid against Hawthorn ;)

Lobb was our best defender with 8 intercepts.

Smith will want to be in the guts. His kicking efficiency going inside 50 is 2% being on the wing will be funny

You Geelong supporters aren't very bright

From the Kennel to the Cattery: How Bailey Smith could get to Geelong

The Cats can start their negotiations with the Bulldogs to secure uncontracted 23-year-old Bailey Smith – who is expected to formally declare soon that he wants to join the Cats – with pick No.15 in their hands.

Where Geelong and Port Adelaide land in the draft order will be determined by their home-and-away ladder positions after both clubs exited the flag race in the preliminary finals, with the Cats finishing lower despite their qualifying final win in Adelaide.

Pick 15 alone won’t be enough to satisfy the Bulldogs, however, according to two industry sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity. The Bulldogs may have been satisfied with a pick in the 10-12 range but won’t be budging on pick 15, particularly given there is likely to be three to four bids on academy graduates or father-son selections before pick 15, even though the same names will be available as expected.

Lobb was essentially best on ground. Interesting perspective, time for bed?

Can almost guarantee that GC pick 12 is what gets the deal done.

So let me get this straight.
You want De Koning, Lobb and O'Donnell (or Jones) in the back-line and a forward line of Naughton, Darcy and Ugle-Hagan?
Not to mention the third tallest player in ruck.

And you have the nerve to tell others they aren't too bright.

The cliff is coming for Jones sadly and O’Donnell was smashed by Calsher Dear in that final. A backline consisting of SDK, Busslinger (when ready) and Lobb is pretty salivating.

Ideally we just move Naughton back but we have one stubborn coach.

You're, umm, pretty level headed when talking about Geelong trading in top players from other clubs.

...but the minute a solid Cats player is said to be gettable you lose it completely! 😄

Perhaps level headedness is the ability to remain, err, rational when it goes both ways.

Put the fork away, son.

Oh if he actually says he wants out then he wants out and it's time to do a deal. Same as player's wanting to go Home. No reason to force someone to be where they don't want to be. I felt that way with both Kelly and Jordan Clark and will continue to do so.

But the reason being run with is, "well he didn't play a Final because he wasn't good enough"
It ignores the reason why he actually didn't play.

I'm not a fan our journos running with stuff that is clearly made up or personal opinion. Wouldn't matter which player is involved.
Loved when Bevo put Tom Morris in his place for being a gutter journo

Which is actually the Doggies original pick and i think both you and I have said the same.
Cats should go for that pick and work it into the trade.

Dogs would be back into the 1st round, Cats get Smith and Suns get points.

Our midfield was extremely one paced in 2022 & 2023 with Bailey playing. Funny enough, this year was the best it looked in years with Richards moving in there. Don’t get me wrong Smith is a good player, but Richards is faster, stronger, and the best kick i50 comp wide, compared to Smith’s 2% kicking efficiency i50 (real stat).

I’m not keen on SDK because of our talls, but I don’t think Smith would’ve given the improvements we need next year, which is that high half forward role.

Which is crazy to me that you already have a perfect high half forward player in Garcia but for some reason don't play him?

What Doggies need are small forwards.
Weightman plays much more like a third tall even at his size.
If Doggies can snooker Ted Clohesy (i prefer him as a small pressure forward to his time in midfield role) in the trade with Cats they've done very well.

If i was Bevo and Power i'd also be targeting Jacob Konstanty from Swans. Out of contract, former top 20 pick and can't break through into deep Swans side.

You’ll be disappointed if you plan to play Smith on the wing.
