Oh ... but he talks a lot, tries hard and is a nice guy from what I hear. I guess that outweighs his negatives and that is why is was a regular senior player at Darley.

He has played interleague before Hank, maybe the selectors have seen something that your "one eye" may have missed. There are some good players from out East!

Getting back to South, I was of the understanding that Parker had retired from football! I hope for the little blokes sake, that his clearance does not go through before the first round clash with Darley, because if the players do not target their former captain, then I'm sure the locals will.

Amazing isn't it. Unbelievable that a footballer who I would guess has never finished top 10 in his club's B&F could be selected in the Interleague squad almost every year. Wasn't he working for the BFL at one stage?

Interleague means nothing, I can name at least 10 players off the top of my head that get asked to play every year before the squad is even announced. And they all say no so just cos he played interleague does not mean he can play. It means all the players above him didnt want to waste there time about 3 years ago they had something like 26 players pull out is that the year he played.

Hey Premiership, Have heard that Redan are training at learmonth this year on wednesday nights? Surely this is a joke or is there ground that bad??? Alfredton is raring to go and just needs abit more grass cover but other than that no problems.

Heard on the Grapevine today, that Darren Fletcher will most likely go back to Skipton rather then play at East/Point this season. Too busy with work, and isnt able to give 100 percent. Very gifted footballer!

Interesting . . . fletch has been training, and played in our practice match against St. Albins on the saturday before the lightning premiership. He seems to be wasting a lot of time at the club if he is just going to turn around and go back

Alfredton is ready to go? i thought that all the grounds in ballarat bar the ewastern oval were out for the season? great news to hear if that is the case.

I think mamalis is so scared he has already pulled out injured!!! probably won't play all year because he is so frightened.

I think your right, they were trying a few alternatives to train, the city oval has deteriorated for probably 3 years now to a point where any activitiy especially training in the main areas due the lights affect it. redan will get through though strong club.

You blokes come up with some classic comments with those melton south guys. :thumbsu:
Your right FF, interleague selections are extremely debatable and certainly not the be all in footy cred to anyone. Mcleod and Scoble are solid, good enough to play at Melton South, mcmahon and parker are as good as anyone in their positions. Where Melton South have stuffed up and why they have probably struggled as a club over the years is they have lost good players for whatever reason and now had to recruit their locals back, which cant be ideal for any club.

How do locals get shafted when these guys are actually locals at Melton South.

Talking to my melton mate cockroach on the weekend, despite player losses they are still confident they will play finals.

Had the pleasure of seeing the Marsh train last night. One week out from round one and they are still doing cardio work like it is preseason. Didn't even pick up a football.

Pathetic.

Agree with that. Dion Miles is a proven disgraceful coach. Seen him go all purple in the face and give his players an almighty verbal barage at Darley one day. He really embarrassed himself and the East Point Club.

If they are to improve it will be from their recruits not the coach. Its April and they are still doing beep tests I hear.

Gee it has been a long preseason as it is, to still be running like that would only take a few losses to dent confidence and have numbers fall away you would think.

I have asked a few times guys, maybe the darley and Marsh guys who are closer to the action can provide greater feedback, what would be the realistic win figure the marsh should be looking at this year.

They will definetely improve, but the problem they face is that the other teams down the bottom last year will as well. South will be big improvers, and I think sebas will be better. Not sure where the Lakers are at, they may be the easy beats this year.
They seem fairly confident at Cobra land that they will improve a lot. So 4-5 wins may be realistic, depending on the oppositions progress or decline (decline meaning melton, and possibly darley).

Your right there Roachy they are all cowards and will be watching over there shoulder all game. Weakest effort ever by Parker saying he retired, how about being a man and just tell the Darley you are going back to your old club. Noodle Faz and Chooka were all big enough to say it, have fun round one! Love noddy.

Your kidding yourself Noddy if you think for 1 second any of them would be worried about facing Darley. Any phyical strength walked out of the club last year. Parker has been targeted by much tougher teams and stood up.

Do you mean physical strength like Kegga?

Were Sunbury worried last year when they lost 3 times to Darley? Or were Darley just better?

I am with you LFC, without seeing a game played yet you would think that the Lakers may be found wanting, Sebas now have a key fwd in their coach and some quality onballers, that will help them improve and win more games.

Please boys, physical strength is not about threatening people or sniping people, it is about playing hard tough footy, tackling, discipline, when it counts on the big occasion. From what I have seen, Melton, East and Redan are the only sides to have that right of claim in the present environment.

what you saw was the warm up. Yes the boys do a lot of running but if that can get them over the line for 2 games this year then that means thats one more game than they won last year!! tuesday night they did more running than what you saw on thursday night. thursday night was an easy run for the boys.

The boys at the marsh are definitely looking at winning more games than losing this year. they are all very confident down there that they may surprise a few teams this year. I dont agree with the 2 darley boys (LFC and Chum) that Dion is a disgraceful coach. all down at the marsh seem to have taken a shine to him and he seems to look the goods with how he has turned the boys around, mentally and physically, since last year. whether it shows on the field or not we'll have to wait untill a few rounds in.

There might be a method behind the madness but I can't see the point of being super fit if your skills are sub par. Keep the main thing, the main thing I've always said.
