palmer does his knee, comes back and starts to show signs of previous form only to break the leg of our best first year player (and one of our best players in general).

its a strange strange world we live in.

Maybe a slight overreaction from some people on here. It was bad though.

Absolute minimum 5-6 weeks, which would be good so he can be back for finals. Maximum 12 months +

flipping Ouch. Don't like to see that happen anyone, let alone a good country boy.

Read a good article on Barlow last weekend, how he's always been good but just not quite there, missing out on squads then proving everyone wrong later.

If he could fire the guy who writes his scripts, do it man, the rollercoaster they've had him on is just too whacked out.

That looked like a double break or at least a break to the Tibia. Total kudos to the guy trying to stand up when he must have been in serious pain.

I really hope he doesn't try to come back this year and stuff himself right up. Write the year off, rest, heal and start again next year.

From my spot on the wing on that side, Palmer looked devastated, trying to console Barlow when he was on the ground. I wish they had just knocked each other out. The great man won't feel too good either with his little chip kick in between the two.

I support the lions and Voss snapped his leg on the same ground. It looks similar in that it snapped clean through. Voss came back to play great footy and 3 premierships, but his movement and kicking were never the same IMO. I suppose Nathan Brown didn't come back too well either. Same for Matt McGuire. It really doesn't look too good for the young fella.

I can't believe how upset this injury is making me, poor guy. Chin up Barlow keep working hard and you will be back dominating before you know it. Shattered for Freo as well, a huge blow for them. I really want them to do well in the finals this year

I said it in the other thread, but gee it reminded me of Vossy at the same ground. Snapped leg straight through! Vossy's mobility and kicking was never the same IMO. But his sheer endeavor never changed. Won 3 flags too! fingers crossed for young Barlow.

Awful for the bloke and for Freo. One of the faves for the Brownlow too, although there has been a lot of things said and the commentators have been hyping him. Could already have several 3 vote games.

There is a thread on the polls board comparing Barlow to Marc Murphy. The ironic thing is that both have now played 13 games in their debut seasons before a season ending injury, assuming Barlow can't get back.

If it is the tibia, he will struggle to get back with 8 weeks plus finals to come. Hope for the best for him I guess.

Yea you're right there, with Freo almost certainly playing finals there may be some pressure around for him to play (including form himself), but the suggestion that he'll be back this year are ludicruos. Full breaks like that are hard enough to heal as it is, rushing it increases the chances of complications immensely - lets just face it that it's season ending.

I'm heartbroken for him. I'm so upset I almost don't care about the win. Lots of love from opposition supporters as well which is nice but that is just horrible, horrible news. Unfortunately, it happened on the 50 metre arc down my end of the ground and yeah, it looked frigging disgusting when it happened. Tragedy.

In the post match interview with Ryan Crowley he looked devastated. Sends a messsage just how much of a positive influence he gives the club and the players. Such a shame for it to happen now as we are beginning to really hit our straps as a great club. Such a shame that injury has been this bad for us this year. :(

My reliable sources tell me its a non-displaced proximal tib/fib fracture.

Will need surgery.

May be able to get away with a plate across the tibial fracture rather than an intramedullary nail.
