And you conceded 106 DT points. This series, like my others to date, is about providing context beyond the readily available counting stats. This year I've focused on head-to-head match ups in an attempt to quantify defensive performances as much as offensive performances.

Round 1 is in the books and while there weren't any blowouts in terms of team results, there were certainly blowouts in individual matchups. S27 Mateflon winner, Tandy, got off to a flyer by collecting 31 disposals while his starting opponent, Agent93, finished the day with three touches. The Hawks had a couple shining lights in Biggie and Loonerty, who defeated their opponents convincingly with Biggie collecting 15 disposals and nine marks after starting in a forward pocket and Loonerty picking up 24 dispoasls, seven tackles and two goals from the wing.

Discussion after the release of the round one results has led to a slight change in methodology for how Dream Team scores are being calculated in this series. The two main issues raised involved a player's time on ground and scoring zero Dream Team points offensively. In a nutshell, comparing two players who both collect 20 disposals is fine when both play the same amount of game time however when one plays less game time than the other, their impact is arguably greater than the player who played more time. On the flip side, conceding ten disposals in 100% of game time should be considered better than conceding ten disposals in 50% of game time.

The other issue, scoring zero Dream Team points, saw arguments presented asking how a player who scores no Dream Team points could be rated higher than someone who scored Dream Team points. The answer to this question is simple - their defensive game is still worth something even though they've not contributed offensively. Accounting for game time has gone some way to resolving this issue. A player who plays 25% game time can not possibly be credited for keeping their opponent quiet for 100% of the game.

There are still limitations with this data however after accounting for the update in methodology, most players still sit around the same part of the weekly leaderboard that they previously occupied.

In addition to the weekly leaderboard I will present a Baz Stats Team of the Week, showcasing the best performers by position each week. Unlike recent Teams of the Week, this will not simply be a case of presenting a team based on counting stats with a forward line including three full forwards because they scored the most goals each week. Each position on the field will be taken up by a player who actually played that position. The forward pockets are genuine forward pockets. The centre position is an actual centre. The only exception will be the interchange bench, which will consist of the best two remaining players regardless of position.

Furies rookie and round 2 Rising Star nominee, MightyHawks86, comfortably led all players for the round with an Adjusted Dream Team Score of 120 as he picked up 18 disposals, eight marks, four tackles and a goal at centre half forward while giving up only nine disposals and three marks. His captain, @TJASATA, played very well alongside him racking up 19 disposals and nine marks while also limiting his opponent to nine touches. A third Fury, Lsta062, rounds out the top ten for round 2 picking up 22 disposals and six marks from the bench.

It was a week for the wings with four players in the top 11 for this week. Unfortunately, only Thomas2 drew the short straw as CALL ME SNAKE, Bless and Milera2Betts all made the Baz Stats Team of the Week ahead of him.

At the other end, Round 1 leader, Tandy, put in a shocker with five disposals from 60% game time while his opponent had a day out with 12 disposals and five tackles.
