Does it look like there will be a shadow over the pitch during the first innings?

Or will the sun play havoc for one side in the first innings givenits current position?
The shadows are quickly disappearing . Ground should be all covered in shadows before ball one.

Looks like the main ones to be dealing with the sun during the first innings will be those sitting the same side as the Gades Arcade - only a small section of the ground not yet in shadow

Adelaide Strikers (Playing XI): D Arcy Short, Ollie Pope(w), Chris Lynn, Jake Weatherald, Alex Ross(c), Jamie Overton, James Bazley, Henry Thornton, Brendan Doggett, Cameron Boyce, Lloyd Pope

Melbourne Renegades (Playing XI): Josh Brown, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Tim Seifert(w), Jacob Bethell, Laurie Evans, Mackenzie Harvey, Will Sutherland(c), Fergus O Neill, Thomas Stewart Rogers, Adam Zampa, Kane Richardson

Adelaide Strikers have won the toss and have opted to field

No Matt Short for the Strikers and he is a massive loss for them. I reckon Doggett and Boyd should possibly be maybe batting ahead of Thornton and maybe Bazley after their last game.

The ground def looks in better condition than the last match here - there's a couple if areas that look a little rough, with those being near the practice pitches where the bowlers would be running in, and on the edge of the pitch where bowlers would be running in but didn't think they'd be using that area outside of match time

If they're going to host other events at Marvel in the lead up to Xmas, then save our Marvel games until after the new year so that the surface has time to recover

The average Power Surge when batting first from 26 games at the Marvel is 20.15 runs. Surely the Renegades can go over that tonight? 25 is about par for me looking at the ground and wicket tonight.

Well it can’t play worse than last game

All night games at Marvel should be open roof unless it’s raining.

Definitely - it'll be interesting to see if the roof being open has any impact in the field as we just don't have the traditional lights here, and does feel that the lights around the inner part of the roof can get in ones eyeline

It's the super hot, nearing 40c days where they really need to make a decision on open or closed, because even in the stands it feels crazy hot on those sort of days - and likely not helped by the abundance of high rises in the vicinity where the sun reflects off their glass windows

I think that's their intention for next season

I'd go with their opening game in Geelong like this year, play the first Melbourne Derby at the MCG before Xmas and the ground being closed in prep for Boxing Day and then away games until the new year

If we still played 6 or 7 home games, I'd suggest opening 2 matches in Geelong, but with only 5 home games I feel a split of 2 in Geelong & 3 in Melbourne isn't the right balance (though I'd be happy as it would make it easier for me)
