shit happens, you cant predict rain especially up and down the east coast, a week ago rain was predicted tonight here in melbourne, but its a clear blue night. You cant just move a match because it might rain and who knows it might rain at the next venue if you did move it.

I reckon play more games in Perth would solve the problem or under the roof. Yep crazy idea but get the Stars to play the Docklands as backup if the forecast 12-24 hours ahead is no good, if games at the MCG cant go ahead. Its only a 5-10 minute tram run.

And Sydney for a city that manages to attract global events should be looking to have a stadia with a roof on top alas the Marvel Stadium.

Royally get stuffed. Teams have home games and away games in different conditions. How is it fair to play games in 2 venues with 2 teams being heavily advantaged

It's been done many times in alot of professional sports but somehow if you suggest it for cricket people take it personally. Let's see what happens if another 3-4 games get rain affected or washed out at least.

Im pretty sure fans would rather a game than no game, even as an away supporter.

I think in the Melbourne Stars case, if you have a venue down the road against an interstate opposition, it sort of makes alot of sense to play at the Docklands if rain is likely to intervene.

Melbourne Stars have only got 4 home games at the MCG this season, you take 1 away from that- it becomes 3 MCG games. As a Perth fan - you are guaranteed 5 actual home games (where you know in the back of your mind), rain will never intervene.

And deeply ask yourself deep down the question, if its raining tomorrow in Melbourne, would Cricket Australia prefer A) Play the game at the MCG- if it rains, no game. Its loss ticket revenue to the organizers, loss of interest in the comp to the neutral, and generally speaking not a good image around the world. Cricket Australia would absolutely be hating it , if the A-League, NBL, tennis, the SA20, ILT20 are grabbing the headlines. Absolutely.

As a neutral, it seems a no-brainer. The only scenario where you may not want the game to go ahead, is possibly if its the last game of the season and one team has already got a spot in the finals depending on it and rain being a favourable outcome to that team.

And also deep down both the Gades and Stars players would rather be out there playing, rather than twitching at their thumbs. I know that for sure.

If it's says it's raining in Melbourne the day before 90 per cent of the time it most definitely will. They won't change the venue though. That what makes it amusing.

I dont live in Melbourne, but having been to both MCG and Marvel, I know deep down it shouldnt take long for fans to move also from one ground to the other. Cricket sometimes shoots itself in the foot with decisions and the way they make common sense things look difficult.

Im also gathering that nothing is being used for the Marvel Stadium outside the BBL games during summer. But even then we have multiple AFL games during a round in the season. And if I stand to be corrected there was a Matildas World cup friendly last season before an AFL game during the round.

😂 Ok mate. Clearly not looking at this from a brand perspective. Why bother playing finals if half the teams got in from washed out games?. They get a point from these games you do realise? Its not about the odd match here or there. That's treating the viewers like it's a Mickey mouse competition. You either want to be taken serious or it's a shit and giggles comp during the summer months.
 
And Sydney for a city with that population, and compared to Melbourne and other bigger American cities with roofs eg Raiders home ground(Allegiant Stadium), Dallas Cowboys home ground...........you would think in 2024 , their government should be looking at a Marvel Stadium given how bad their weather is for sports teams in summers.

Sydneys case is a bit more complex since the Showgrounds and SCG are about 30 minutes from each other, but it should be a priority of the NSW and/or Federal government to get an actual proper indoor stadium with a roof for sports in general.

How many games in the Big Bash Cricket this season so far in Melbourne have been effected by rain so far this season.2nd test of cause we lost 2 hours day 1 and I think 45 minutes day 3 early.Tomorrow night might be different,lets hope it is not as a big crowd you would think.
