Even Darcy Short is smoking them.

I’m not trying to judge him on his T20 performances relative to good or bad wickets mate, or when the bowling conditions are friendly 😂😂

Players are either good or not. And he is not. His economy rate is 9 an over, he averages 28, and even his batting where he DOES have a good strike rate - 160 - sees him averaging only 21 and he’s passed 50 only once in 155 matches.

So mate I’m not judging him on anything other than the fact that he’s an incredibly mediocre cricketer.

I could see him being a Tim Bresnan bowling all rounder type for next Summer's Ashes series.

Bresnan was an underrated player in England's last Ashes win in 2010/11, the Aussies were pretty hopeless back then though

Highly doubt he'll make the squad let alone play

Overton’s last test - and only one - was 3 years ago. He doesn’t offer much I don’t think and they’ve shown their hand with Carse and Atkinson assuming they stay fit.
If he was a bit quicker maybe to go with his height but he just doesn’t seem to bowl like he looks like he should bowl, if you know what I mean.

That's out. Every other angle showed it bounce on his fingers which were under it.
That front on, ground level one was a blurry mess with one frame causing confusion because his fingers "disappear"
- that's because they get pressed into the turf as the force of the ball hits them.

That's still out.

Yet more evidence that the role of DRS "umpire" needs to be taken off the default mediocre 55yo umpire, and given to a technician who primarily works in A&V, and is then taught the black and white rules.

It's always a crapshoot as long as you have people with no real idea of how video tech works, and its limitations & traps.

Was that a catch?
I'm thinking it was but a 2D camera from outside the ground would have no hope of telling. 3rd umpire could only have a guess so ended up not out. If it's 50/50 in those situations it likely he caught it but there's not enough to tell with the evidence.

Like the Smith Catch in the Test. He caught it, as seen below, but the cameras are shit.

His brother Craig was a bit quicker and taller and played more test matches, he wasn't as good with the bat but he was no mug.

He seems to have fallen by the wayside too in the England pecking order, I like both of them though, they both have some ticker.

Really can’t be that hard can it?

Did he get his fingers under the ball? Did they stay under the ball?

There’s no need to analyse every second of a slow mo replay looking for a blade of grass to touch the ball.

Game has absolutely gone.
