Well the Ben Cousins thing seems to be raising its head again as most people knew it would.

Most clubs have seemingly shut the door on any future dalliance with the former pin up boy.. but we all know what clubs say and what they mean are two different things. The historical example being "The board stands behind (insert coaches name) one hundred per cent".

Other clubs have potentially left the door open. Knights has left the door slightly ajar as have one or two other clubs whilst a number of others have declined or have been unable to be drawn to comment.

One thing is for certain and that is that the Port Melbourne team will be creaming their pants at the prospect of potentially having Cuzzybro lining up for them at some stage this season.

Personally, I've always hated the smug little pr*k but if he was 100% over his "problems", would you have him at your club?

I'd love to have Cousins back at the Eagles.

Despite the fact that he screwed his life up off the field, on the field he was a through and through champion. He was one of the best leaders we have ever seen at the club and he always gave 100%. One of the champions of the modern era in my opinion.

However taking him back goes against our new breed philosophy.

Personally a part of me doesn't want him to get picked up by another club. Its selfish I know, but seeing Cousins in another jumper would be far worse than seeing Judd in the navy blue. Judd was a star for us but his heart was never at the club. Cousins bled blue and gold from the day he joined us. :(

Bet you wouldn't have hated him if he'd played for The Bombers!!

No way, wouldn't want to waste draft picks on a 30 year old, who was starting to have hamstring problems last year. Then there is his other problem & I'm not sure he'll be able get over it.

Stick with the kids Bombers. :thumbsu:

Been there - done that - not to quite the same extent with Carey - out of footy for a year - 30 yo midfielder - and massive off field issues that he cannot be sure will never resurface - wish him all the luck in the world - but ............no thanks

It would all depend on how much it would cost to get him? If somehow you could get him for a mid-range pick, I'd definetely want him at Carlton. If it was involving a top 20 pick, I'd forget about it. great player, whoever gets him will be no doubt better off, as long as he can keep his mental state healthy.

Yes I think The Rat is crazy to come out with a categorical no.

Isn't he meant to be challenging for the flag next year?

What better way to do it than reuniting the Judd/Cousins combo - obviously the singular reason the eagles won their last flag considering how they've gone since the dynamic duo left.

By that theory you should get him at Essendon.

Cousins could team up with your other gun midfielder..

All I'm saying is, Carlton are proving this year that it obviously isn't enough to just have Judd with no Cousins. They expected to buy a flag this year or next by buying Judd. Maybe what they've really bought is simply the arse end of a Ferrari - they still need to buy the front end if they want it to actually do anything.

I have to say, as much as I dislike him as a person - if he was 100% recovered I don't think I'd mind too much in the end if he played for us for a season or two. I think our young players would benefit from his knowledge. He really has done it all and seen it all. The extreme highs and lows.

Also, it would really give eagle supporters the shits which is always an entertaining bonus.

Definitely. Mick could keep him on course with some stern after training chats. We love taking guys from the West and getting em on the right track. I think it would be good for young Ben.
We wouldnt do it for Collingwood, we would do it for Ben;)

Champion player but don't know how the Cats could use him. We'll be struggling as is to keep our players and not break the cap. Teams that are close but missing some midfield leadership and flair need him, ie. Collingwood. If Brisbane got him they'd be top 4. Power, Black and Cousins in the same midfield  That'd be awesome.
