Delisted Ben Lennon [delisted]

Would be racking up 20 touches and 5 marks a game playing half back at the Hawks like Sicily and Gunston wouldn't he? Think that's his future and shocked the Tigers didn't at least try him in the backline at VFL level as the year went on.

Doesn't handle the physical requirements and pressure of an AFL forward.

My mail is richmond wanted to keep Lennnon for 1 more year and he told them to GAGF. Likely to be picked up by North. This will gone down as the worst delisting in AFL/VFL history.

Please if you are going to make up crap, please get his name right!. I hope North take him, hes a good kid with a good family. He is pretty upset atm after being delisted. He was hoping for another year to break into the side.

I agree. Good user of the ball. Nicky Dal rejuvenated his career playing that half back role. I think Lennon could do the same. Too much skill to just be written off yet. The tigers have made a big big mistake.

Definitely not as rubbish as a few posts on here have intimated. Mediocre more like it. Can kick and mark and would be best 22 for a number of teams - kicked 40 odd goals in the VFL.

He'll be at the Tiges next year (on a smaller contract) and he'll be on the fringe of selection again I'd say.
He just got delisted.

Too short to play as genuine key forward (which is really what he is, except he's 6'2 with short arms) and doesn't offer enough on the deck to play 'small'. Shaping as a younger Dean Galea

Sicily and Gunston play with more urgency and are capable of doing so as they have better athleticism. I just can't see where you could hide him down back, he doesn't have the agility or speed to keep with nimble small forwards playing as a small defender, and he doesn't have the urgency, tank or speed to be played as a rebounding half back. He plays hesitantly because he knows he's going to be sweated on. And it's not hard to find third tall defender/small defender/rebounding half back flankers anyway, surely you'd go with someone who is more suited to the position. Simply put, Lennon's lack of athleticism means he struggles to play any AFL position. I'd pick Broad over him anyday of the week and he was pick 67. Lennon has a very wide turning circle and turns at a glacial speed; if he ever played down back, watch him get torched by Eddie Betts/Toby Greene types.

And I don't understand why Richmond would groom him for a role down back when every defender they're currently using is a better player and it's not hard to find defenders of that type as I said. Richmond are shallower in the forwardline anyway and he's never played as a backman in his life and with his lack of accountability, urgency or athleticism I doubt he's going to star there now. Richmond groomed Broad for a role that Lennon would probably most likely play and the side picked him instead of Lennon, and given his form, you can understand why. If there's anyone pushing for a Richmond spot in the backline, it's Short.

From about mid year it was clear the guy wasn't going to crack Richmond's best 22 in any role, so based on that I'd rather give him some footballing education. Forward's have to be agile because when they get the ball they have to keep it alive to a team mate or kick a goal, defenders can sometimes get away with a bit less agility given they can react to the forward and can move the ball backwards, sideways or any direction. Broad's a good lock down player but a liability with the footy, Lennon could be a good user from half back and a better intercept mark, it's not really comparing apples with apples.

Whilst they are different players a lot of the same criticisms of Lennon were directed at Liam Jones and it took until his career was all but over for someone to say 'let's try this guy in the backline'. Dogs and Blues fans would've thought the same thing - too slow, too cumbersome, unaccountable.

He's a pea heart.
Will play 400 games for your mob.
North turned Nahas into a player, we can do anything.

He had a good vfl year. Apparently coming back to play for north's new vfl team.

He'd be good there (or any other VFL team). He's a quality VFL player. Just doesn't seem to have that bit extra to make it at AFL level.
