Ben Lennon still keen to stay at Richmond

I would like to think he'd go into Dimma's office at the first opportunity, look him in the eye, and pledge to fight for his position in the senior team. That he is preparaed to do whatever is needed to become a Tiger champion - off-field, on-field and contractually. Dipper played 100 reserves games and Michael Tuck 50 in the magoos before they established themselves as multi-premiership players.

I rate him and and would be thrilled if he does the above and subsequently gets a performance-based Tiger contract.
Those days are long gone matey. Different times ... smaller lists.
Had 52 back in the day and could keep another 40 on the under-19s list.

Told he won't be offered a new contract.

Would be happy with Lennon for pick 76.

We may even give you Pick 70 something if you take him off out hands........................:D

Give him six more years, if 'Titch' Edwards can come good, this bloke surely can.
We've given Griffiths eight ... and Elton seven.
Can’t bag Edwards after his finals series anymore Gold dust

Hope BEN gets a reasonable offer and stays, a fit Conca is the only one likely to walk into our GF 22
with 5 or 6 others ready to jump in if our premiership boys slacken off or we get injuries.

Conca will not be at Richmond next year IMO.

Headed West.

Difference is that Townsend is a defensive player and sticks to team rules and commits everything to the team cause

Lennon is about Lennon and the VFL grand final is perfect example where when he marked the ball outside 50 he just turned his back and didnt even consider if anybody els was in a better position - It was all about him

Now its not about him not passing it off its about him just turning his back and not even thinking , Lem me see there might be a player free 20mtrs out in front
Possible that the runner had been out telling the boys how long was left and when he took the mark rather than rushing and stuffing any opportunity he took responsibility himself and backed himself to score. Lets not forget it was less than a goal the difference at the time and Port had pretty much everyone back in the D50.

In saying that I'd still be looking at trading him if we could get some value back our way, if not a 1-2 year deal on minimal coin would be fine. Others ahead of him that need to go before him and in a weak draft wouldn't want to go too deep.

I'd resign him for 1 more on a modest salary. With Maric, Morris, Miles, Batchelor, Elton, Hunt & likely Conca to go either by requesting trade or being cut - I think he is worth investing in. Our forward line currently is unique more than talented and once a team figures out the best way to combat this pressure forward set up, we will need a plan B & C to stay competitive.

If he wants to stay and willing to accept a modest contract to do so, then i would be
A fit Conca has huge upside. He is best 22 when fit. Great position to be in when you look at guys like Cellis, Menadue, Markov, Short, Son of Naish, 2 first rounders and nobody over 30.

Wouldn't be any slower than Townsend but would be a lot better mark.

He has a place if he can find the hardness and aggression of Townsend. Doubt it though.
You can't just flick a switch to have what Townsend has.

Titch Edwards has always been good.

Completely disagree with this. At the game, it was obvious there was only seconds left. The only option and the correct option was to take the shot. Lennon took the mark, backed himself and took responsibility. He knows he is a good long kick, and Port had numbers back.

I actually saw this as a sign of game awareness, taking the responsibility and leadership, we cant pot him for missing. He absolutely needed to take the shot.

Why has Richmond kept Griffiths & Elton on the list for so long, it is farcical considering the overall return from the players.

Lennon has had his chance to show any significant improvement but has not been able to do so.

These players would not be on rookie wages and it is time to move them on, by moving them on it allows Richmond the chance to draft another Jack Graham bargain later in the draft.

Typical Ben Bloody Lennon

Playing out everything in the media and makes me laugh when i read the article

As if his manager hasn't garnered other teams interests over the last few months to see if there is any interest and after the realisation that no other club has an interest comes out with the line that he wants to stay at Richmond.

Delist and maybe Rookie list on min salary if we must , Might be time to recoup some of that $800k we paid him last 2 years

Is he seriously on 400k a year? Thats insane

Lennon is 22 and just finished his 4th year on the list he is a proven goal kicker at VFL level playing as a medium forward/midfielder. Maric Yarran Elton Morris Batchelor for mine should be moved on before Lennon. It's a weak shallow draft apparently, so unless we're getting top reward for trading him I see no point in moving on Lennon this year. As I said in the Trade thread if someone was to offer us a second round pick next year or we could do a player swap for someone like Adam Saad then send him on his way, but unlikely that will happen so stick with what we know. Like Corey Ellis Menadue Markov and Short I'd be sitting Lennon down and telling him that there is a spot there for him if he can prove he wants it badly enough.
