Cant help but smile at this:
' In no rush': Swans gun puts off contract talks
IN-FORM Sydney utility Jake Lloyd says he's in no hurry to re-sign with the club, preferring to concentrate on his football.

Add Will Haywood to the list of talent up forward, still ony 19.

Yeah that is not a good sign as Jake Lloyd is criminally underrated. Always does his job with no fuss. I very much want to re-sign him.

small bloke, 7 goals and 10 tackles- the prototypical forward in the Hardwick model which won a premiership last year. Swans have got a beauty.
Wow, the "Harwick model" won a premiership last year. I had no idea. I'd have thought someone would have mentioned it by now.

I also like that Hardwick created the prototype of the pressure forward. I am surprised that no one had ever thought of that concept before. He should probably get some sort of trademark on that before someone steals his idea.

Sam Kerridge kicked 6 goals against North once.

I’d expect Ronke’s output will trend towards the usual level for a rookie listed small forward.

But it was a very fun game.
Kerridge managed that all in the second half too. Poor Kangas were on the end of a couple of significantly above average Kerridge games. Their board even has an award for otherwise average players that play an absolute gem against them - The Sam Kerridge Spud Shield - https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/sam-kerridge-spud-shield-2018.1188627/

Best thing is how he loves to take it on. Kept running to kick a goal after Big Boy legged him rather than take the set shot, shrugged off two tacklers to snap one at the other end. Strong around the hips and brings huge amount of energy. Great to watch.

You are getting crap for this post, but from his debut he reminded me of the nippy types in the Tigers forward line.

By the way, Ronke played in an important role in the win against against the Cats with a couple of goals on debut, so he was already firmly on Swans fans radar.

Once they're all fit, the Swans once again have quite the forward line (suited to today's game style) to work with:

HF: Heeney - Franklin - Papley
F: Ronke - Reid - Hayward

The odds of them all being fit at the same time is about the same odds as Israel Folau appearing on a float at the gay and lesbian mardi gras next year.

Only 9 posts before a Richmond supporter made this about them

Well played

What are the knocks on him? Good goal sense, decent speed, a really decent tackler and seems reasonable in traffic too. Exactly the kind of player you want to recruit - especially in this day and age.

If anyone is going to take credit for the small forward model. It’s was Clarko and his hawks of 13-15 that own that patent. Richmond did well to win the flag, no doubt. But, they sure as hell didn’t revolutionise the game. They just made a cheap copy of the hawthorn Rolls Royce of Breust, Rioli and Puopolo.
Yes but the Hawks FWD line had Buddy and Rough, perhaps rotating with a Hale, and Gunston as a lighter build medium-tall, then the smalls you mentioned. A devastating combination but not a revolution.

The Hardwick model utilizes a single, slightly under-sized KPF (Riewoldt) and then all Ronke-sized types, who should be elite in the (endurance + speed) category. Everyone, including Richmond fans, said it would never work early last year, so I think it is a revolution of sorts...

But that's all by-the-by. The point is, Ronke would be a Hardwick favourite, and the way the game is being played right now, his type are invaluable and having a huge impact on the competition. Great pick Sydney!

Will big bud slip him a couple of Gs for him doing buddy’s job while he’s ‘injured’

How come there’s a subset of Hawks fans (and a coach) that drop their bundle on the rare occasions Sydney manages to beat them?

Sydney’s ressies watchers labelled him a particularly spectacular ball-butcher playing midfield in the NEAFL. Maybe he’s at his best when his only target is the big sticks.

Couldn't help but think of John Geogiades while watching last night.

JG kicked 8 on debut for footscray in 1989 and finished his career with 19.

Hope Ronke makes it to 20. Really enjoyed watching him last night.

Note: Bruce has a new man crush
.

Groan. Have no doubt the kid will have a decent career. BUT please spare me another Bruce crush on any more players, particularly on kids starting their careers.

:D

I notice he gave Cyril a backhander on the way to dumping him too ' Cyril has never had this kind of game in over 9 years'
