WE SAY: The Suns simply must play finals for the first time in 2025 — anything less will be a huge disappointment in their second year under Damien Hardwick. Richmond’s best-and-fairest Daniel Rioli will reunite with his former coach Hardwick, while Collingwood dasher John Noble also wants to move to the Gold Coast. The Suns will lose Jack Lukosius who wants to move to Port Adelaide after spending time on the outer in 2024. The fascination will be where Hardwick uses Mac Andrew after he signed a mega deal to commit to the Suns. Andrew looked brilliant as a forward, but is Gold Coast better served with him in defence as an interceptor? Elliott Himmelberg should arrive from Adelaide but is likely more a depth player, at least at the start of the season.

Elliott Himmelberg is Days replacement. Depth player. I think he definitely has an upside.

The line-up looks pretty good except Sexton.

Powell on a wing! Yes please. Can see him there. Maybe Weller. They may keep Graham there too.

But with two halfbacks coming in, it would make sense to move one of our better kickers up the ground for forward 50 entries.

Also yeah, Sexton and Holman can come out.

Rosas can come in, and then Davies. That leaves Rogers or Lombard as next ones up.

Happy with the starters, hopefully we draft another flyer like Sam Clohesy.

Always find it funny when teams like Essendon talk up these overseas trip then come back and serve up the exact same crap.

In saying that, I am so here for a Bear breakout year. Good to see him wanting to get stuck in to it. Hopefully this gives him the momentum for a big summer readying him for a move into the middle.

No judgements, but 99.9% sure that rioli won't be going back to the forward line.

No Coasty Martin?

Wishlist for 2025:
1. Finals
2. Clean run for Powell, Weller and Miller. Feel like the last 2 years pre-seasons and seasons have halted these three and seeing them firing again would be all time.
3. Humpa to take the next step.
4. Mac to keep on rising.
5. At least 1 game where it all comes together for Jed.
6. Chucky to regain some 2023 form.

That's not too much to ask, is it?

Uwland - Collins - Powell
Rioli - Ballard - Noble
Clohesy - Miller - Weller
Ainsworth - Andrew - Flanders
Long - King - Walter

Witts - Rowell - Anderson

Davies - W.Graham - Budarick - Humphrey

Swallow

Notes:

Pretty good looking team on paper. I like Andrew forward, and it also allows him to help Witts in the ruck without disrupting the defense.

Don't want young players as sub, would rather they get full games in the 2's, so Swallow/Holman to be specialty subs for the season IMO.

Not sure on Walter, was tempted to go with Himmelberg at least early in the season, but if Walter has a great pre-season then he is obviously the future.

Wing could go to about 3 or 4 different players, ended up with Weller as I love Powell's intercept marking in the back, and hoping Weller gets that full pre-season under his belt.

Budarick also a bit of a flex spot on the bench, could very easily be a Rogers as well.

I still think we are possibly a small forward short as we lack a tad of scoring punch. Although high chance we remedy that with Rioli and Noble using the ball much better on the rebound. We get the ball I50 better than all but Bulldogs and Brisbane, if we cleaned up 10% of those entries we kick 2-3 more goals a game.
