Fair enough. I only saw the second half of his career when mostly stationed forwardMr Hunter played more half back than anywhere else.
Be interested in your selection to replace Doc ?
McKay definitely, Dean probably, a handful maybe.

Two great defenders.Fair enough. I only saw the second half of his career when mostly stationed forward

Handy forward line if you can afford to leave Peter Hudson out of it!That forward line is unbeatable hard to not select bruest but alot of other flankers missing out, Hudson Knights Gunston maybe I would select Breust just on his ground ball abilities!
Are we allowed to absolutely totally and utterly shitmix oppo players with shirtfronts etc in this imaginary scenario?
If so Woosha, if not McKenna

Without bias, that forward six is the best any team could put forward. Do any sides have a back six that could stop it?Hudson. good grief.
Franklin Brereton Matthews
Dunstall Hudson Rioli
A flash from the past.A composite of 2 eras:
Ayres Langford Collins
Jaworskyj Knights Bremner
Eagles best backline
FB: Hurn McIntosh McGovern
HB: McKenna Jakovich Worsfold
McIntosh was an absolute stud as a full back criminally underatred

Imagine Waters and Woosh on the same half backline.... footsteps would be deafening!
Well, if you are playing four KPPs, Carlton.Without bias, that forward six is the best any team could put forward. Do any sides have a back six that could stop it?
I dunno if I could put up a back six that could stop it, but the one I would put up would have Worsfold in it - Worsfold on Matthew’s.Without bias, that forward six is the best any team could put forward. Do any sides have a back six that could stop it?
That’s a great off-season thread actually - the AA most intimidating team of all time.
Pickett has to get a run.Hey.
Was thinking of this a while ago.
A quick effort. Happy to be updated or improved upon.
Also a combo of volatility, toughness and an oppo love to hate.

Kevin Sheedy, Wes Lofts, Rod Grinter
Bernard Toohey, Ron Andrews, John Worsfold
Dipper, Greg Williams, David Rhys-Jones

I reckon that would be a good weekend to have a niggling calf injury.Hey.

Always wondered if he was named in honour of the poet.Pickett has to get a run.
Yep.I reckon that would be a good weekend to have a niggling calf injury.
Wirra, Mackintosh, HurnWirra, Glass, Worsfold
Waters, Jakovich, Hurn
Think 5 of them are licks, Toss up between many for that Beau Waters spot
A flash from the past.
Ian Bremner was extremely ... shall I say ... robust and resilient.
While Bowden J was, shall I say ... heavy set, robust and resilient.
Fancy John Senior liking those types
The other players, good stuff.
Is Chris Mew stiff at CHB?
What about K. Moore at FB?
Tough decisions.
Hudson coming in off the bench.Handy forward line if you can afford to leave Peter Hudson out of it!
Have to have dermyYep.
Forgot Dermott too. Ticks all the boxes from his playing days.
Bernie Smith Gary Malarkey Matthew ScarlettWhich club puts together the best back 6 of all time? Ones that pop to mind are eagles and Carlton but would be interested to know where we rate these lineups.
Geelong would be in my opinion this lineup
Milburn Scarlett Stewart
Enright Taylor Bilcavs
Noone gets out alive!Hey.

Great players, all. An embarrassment of riches, really. Knights was a switch hitter, he could play flank wing and forward also.Moore or Langford at FB still means one can go BP.
But Mew has to be at CHB given he is there for our team of the century despite the universal love for Knights.
Mew's style in the 80s would still work today. One on one brilliant but moved so quickly to double team another forward, and had an incredible penetrating kick.
Kennedy Jr is another who could be in the back 6. We had 10 guys in the 80s who were brilliant defenders.
McKay was a better HBF than Doc, that is, Andrew McKay. A lot more consistent back there. Two great defenders.
I personally wouldn't rate them higher than Doc, pretty well on an even keel IMO particularly if Doc plays well in these finals. (premiership player )
It is very tough to choose our best back 6.
Dean Rice comes to mind as well and there will be more that I can't think of right now.
Great players, all. An embarrassment of riches, really. Knights was a switch hitter, he could play flank wing and forward also.
There are also some other handy players over the years, premiership players all, who were very effective defenders:
Douge
Ohallorin
Schwab
Collins
Maginness
Jenke
Ohallirin and Collins I thought were siginificantly under rated.
