Most clubs from memory have a 'Best Clubman award'. What do you have to do to win the 'best clubman award'? Ive asked heaps of people this some say you have to be:
* get along well with other footy players
* be a good person on and off the field
* a guy that the young players look up tp
* its just an award to make players like good

What is your definition of a "Best Clubman Award"?

St Kilda doesn’t have a best clubman award, and have killed off all other player awards except the B&F.

It's nothing more than a token award and is usually an insult to at least half a dozen players that they don't receive it.

At St Kilda for instance, who could you go past Rob Harvey as best clubman? But them there's Kosi, who despite being injured for large parts of the season, was always around and supportive of those playing. When asked to step up for the captaincy, he was magnificent. Also knocked back significant offers to stay with the team. Then there's X. Clarke. Same as Kosi on the injury front and his support of the playing group. He's community service and how this reflects on the club has been exemplary. Ball, Hamill and Baker are others who would qualify for the award.

I'd suggest it's pretty much an 'in house' award that the likes of us probably wouldn't be able to judge from our point of view.

Generally, you'd guess it'd go to a hard trainer who gets along with most people, does a load of footy clinics and shakes a lot of corporate hands.

Nathan Lovett-Murray was ours this year, so as far as what david said about being a role model for the younger players, i dont think that applies here as he is one of our younger players. bu obviously i cant say whether he deserved it or not as i am not apart of the inner circle

I'd have a thought "Best clubman" would be the person that worked the hardest on and off the field for the least recognition.
