Good list. But without any disrespect to them, hard to believe that Tarkyn Lockyer and Ryan Lonie make it onto this list.

Great effort! Would question:
8 - Des Tuddenham wore it with distinction for a large part of his career
17 - Never saw Thorold Merrett but he was TOC
24 - Tarks? Admittedly the only other 24 I can think of who might be close is Andrew Ireland.
43 - Would put Ricky Barham ahead

Terry Keays at 60 is a great get. Could have been anything that kid.

One of my fav's:

#12 - Dennis Banks, Luke Ball ??

Curious to see who scores 12 next year as it's another number that's got 'hard nut' written under it.

great idea, in light of so many great players having the same number, what is Collingwoods greatest ever number?

22 - Shaw, Rose, Greening, Sidebottom

Whould have to be up there.

Would have to agree, like I said, an illustrious number. Can't think of another number associated with so many outstanding players and Collingwood people. Very distinguished.

If there is a competition, then 22 wins!

Only gonna do it from players I've actually seen play....Sorry Leeter!
1. Des Tuddenham (tough as teak)
2. Len Thompson (quality, quality ruck man, Gentleman)
3. Ted Potter (one of only two men I ever saw keep Peter Hudson Goalless)
4. Alan Didak (met him when he was 16 yo....new he was pure silk even then)
5. Nathan Buckley (apologies to Maxy and Bubba Price, but Bucks was in another class)
6. Peter Mc Kenna (Another gentleman, and the straightest drop punt I've ever seen)
7. Graham Shepherd (big call this cos he played so few games, but if you saw him you'd know I'm not making it up)
8. James Clement (the ultimate half back)
9. Phil Carman (certainly a flawed genius, but a genius all the same. Kicked 10 on Doull and Southby in a state game)
10. Scott Pendlebury (loved Ian Cooper also but like Buck's, this guy's in another class)
11. Ken Turner (ran straight, tackled like a madman)
12. Can't split Dennis Banks and Luke Ball ( ones a badboy, ones an angel...both are premiership heroes)
13. Dale Thomas (Daisy lit up the G for a few years there)
14. Kevin Morris (one of Hafey's disciples, he brought some steel to Viccy Park)
15. Leigh Brown (loved his physicality and enthusiasm)
16. Alan Atkinson (took mark of the century...look him up)
17. Another tie: Scotty Burns and Dayne Beams (both tough, uncompromising hombres)
18. Wayne Richardson (the best rover we've had in my time)
19. Graham Wright (spring heeled jack, Taswiegian that ran all day)
20. Chris Tarrant (just because he took that hanger over Scarlett)
21. Mark Williams (as good a captain as you'd ever want)
22. The ultimate tie: Bobby Rose and Johnny Greening ( One was our best player in my lifetime, the other was going to be the best of all time)
23. Anthony Rocca (great pack mark, great clubman)
24. Tarkyn Lockyer (he did his job, every week, huge heart)
25. Billy Picken ("here comes Billy")
26. Gavin Brown (sorry Robert Dean and Johnno, but there's only one ROWDY)
27. Craig Starcevic (Con Britt was pretty handy as well, but Starc won a flag)
28. Gavin Crosisca (the best tackler I've seen)
29. Scott Russell (clever, clever player....Broomy looks great in the 29 as well)
30. Peter Moore (Race horse ruck man...so exciting to watch)
31. Phil Manassa (if only his 1977 Goal had've won us a GF)
32. Travis Cloke (Key forward Beast)
33. David Cloke (ran like he was on eggshells but carried us for 5 years late in his career)
34. Mick McGuane (one of the best "natural footballers" we've seen, great footy brain)
35. Peter Daicos (Freak)
36. Dane Swan (its like watching a Port Melbourne boy dominate the AFL....love him)
37. Athos Hyrousilakis (very talented player, didn't play enough)
38. Robert Hyde (Strong and Brilliant back pocket player, injury cruelled him early)
39. Heath Shaw (The best of the second generation Shaw's, incredible reader of the game)
40. Tony Beers (talented flanker)
41. Terry Domburg (rugged half back, didn't play enough)
42. There's only one Pants (Darren Millane)
43. Ricky Barham (raced up and down the wings kicking goals)
44. Shane Kerrison (premiership back pocket, not bad for a ranga)
45. Jack Frost (make it your own son)
46. Paul Tuddenham (son of a gun)
47. Chris Dalkin (exquisite skills, did not play enough) *** Jared Blair did win a premiership in this number?
48. Mal Michael (huge shoulders! too bad he went and won flags at the Lions)
49. Heath Shepherd (another son of a gun)
50. Andrew Smith (nice guy, know his family)
51. Micky Gayfer ( the human glove, special mention to Neville Shaw who was better than Tony and Ray but was just too undisciplined)
52. That will do pig....that'll do
