Buckley and it's not close. Was the rising star winner and came second in the bears b&f (if he wasn't leaving he probably would have won it as well). The fact he was 21 and a machine is a fair advantage though.

Ben Hart made the All-Australian team in his first AFL season as a gangly 18 year old (he may have even been 17 for part of it, can't remember).

O'Meara easily. I like posting things like easily, or "by the length of flemington", or no contest, when making subjective calls on very close comparisons.

Oh and providing no evidence at all, or even sound reasoning to support my position, that's an absolute must.......
Courtney Johns and it ain't even close

Joel Selwood stepped into one of the greatest teams of all time and dominated like he had been there for 5 years.

O'Meara's first season is a close second in my books.

Selwood looked more composed than O'Meara in his first year. The guy was also backing into oncoming packs and quickly earning the respect of veterans who had been there for 7+ years.

O'Meara needs to go up another gear this year as some of the best midfielders in the past did. 21 disposals to 25 is high but for the Suns to be a genuine chance of making the 8, they need this 'greatest midfielder of the future' to really turn it on.
Can't do a David Swallow and go backwards after all the early accolades.

O'Meara was getting tagged last year that didn't happen to Selwood as he had stars around him everywhere.

I'm not saying he was tagged every game I said he was tagged.
It didn't happen to Selwood, sorry I'm not conforming to your bias.

nice back-peddle :)

Selwood copped plenty of attention as the season draw to a close, challengers for the premiership that year didn't just look at Bartel, Ablett and Corey and say "right! Take these blokes out and we win the game"

No back peddle for what?
In my time it goes as I posted much earlier.
O'Meara, Bucks, Rich & Selwood in that order.

If you don't like it go and start the same thread on the Cats board, I'm sure they'll think similar.

In recent years it would be Michael Barlow for mine.

13 games (injury)
15 goals

avgs:
28 disposals
4 clearances
5 tackles
4 inside 50's

and got 12 brownlow votes
