The Granny at the Curtin was sick fun. Beautiful, sunny day and a really good clientele. I cuddled a few blokes from Perth and ended up with free Coopers. I was also robbed in the handball comp. I don't think you could find too many better pubs to watch the GF in Melbs if you're young enough in the Inner North. Where'd you end up going?

By the way, mate just hit me up so it seems I'll be on the grog tonight. Is there literally anywhere on a Wednesday? Been right into the pool lately but just checking in case something bigger's on...

Place in Fitzroy Street.... Called 28th apartment goes on Wednesday's.

How bout for the older crowds (30's-40's) ?

Somewhere close to he city with live music (cover bands playing the classics)

Any suggestions would be appreciated

I think you'd dig Bar Oussou as its an eclectic but mostly older crowd, good cheap drinks and live music every night (good garden out the back, nice lounge, reasonable food too).

On Sydney Rd

Been out and about a fair bit lately.

Knocked back from Motel (4 guys, 3 girls) and was quite disappointed considering Collingwood players were in the line and apparently the club was full of AFL players.

Tried out Rats nightclub. Extremely cheap, packed and filthy. Music isn't bad. Not bad for a messy night out and you can save a fair bit of cash.

Asian Beer Cafe on the weekend was a bore. Music doesn't sound good, no dance floor. Drinks are cheap though so thats a massive plus.

Skull Club where TFU used to be, not too bad. The venue itself needs improving.

Just as a general comment, I think it's pretty stupid that it matters how many women you have with you (or whether you have women with you at all) at some venues in Melbourne. Have never, ever heard of this being a "thing" in Adelaide at any venue, ever. If you're dressed normally, aren't too drunk, the place isn't full and it's not past lock-out, there's no question that you'll get in pretty much anywhere here. Just pure wank that it'd work any differently to that really.

Imo it's thinly veiled sexism. But that's how clubs operate, they won't get people through the door if their venue is full of dudes

There's actually a law now in the UK that prevents venues knocking back guys just for... being guys

You as the punter don't know if it's "full of guys" on the night until you actually get in there, so once they've got you in the door, you've paid your cover and bought a couple of drinks, they've got what they wanted out of it. Just doesn't make any business sense to turn away people willing to spend money in your establishment, just because of their gender.

That is a very good point. Although a bad experience (i.e. plenty of guys and no girls) might put a bloke and their friends off going to that particular place again. I don't agree with it either, I'm just trying to look at it from both angles

Anyone been to Fabrique Fridays? Any good? Thinking about buying a ticket to see Jeremy Olander DJ there in a couple weeks.
