saw newman play last year against yarrawonga and i think he kicked 10 or 11,looked pretty good.who were the other two blokes at red cliffs?Ibis100 said:Newman played a year at Red Cliffs years ago. Was very over rated. Didn't like the hard stuff and did nothing but wreck the club along with the other two blokes he went there with.

Gotheroos said:Newman is a great player. I don't know where you have got your information from ibis100 but I know that he is far from soft. You can't be soft and kick 10 or 11 in a game.
jimmyboy said:Sorry Mr roo, dont even know this newman fella but must disagree, you can definately be soft and kick 10 or 11. It all depends on the opposition, the delivery, many factors.
fish1 said:I agree that there are def a lot of o and m players who should be on the list ahead of many other players previously mentioned by others in the lesser league. I believe that players from leagues in division one VCFL champs should be given greater consideration just because they have to be more dominant against greater opposition. 2-3 years ago Jason Wild was by far the best player in the VCFL. His all round hardness, endurance and skill ranked him among the top country players in the state. Tim Hargraves and Craig Ednie certainly must be up there just below wild.
Gotheroos said:No matter what the delivery is like you still have to get it. And as buddha said he was playing against Yarrawonga. They are no slouches. There is no hiding playing full forward mate. I know there are plenty of blokes on this site that can back me up on this.
had a few players go to him that day and ended up being 2 and 3 outted so definatley not soft.how many did he end up with last year?Gotheroos said:No matter what the delivery is like you still have to get it. Ok roo i'll back u up there is definately no hiding at ff especially if u start kicking a few as they will put a loose player back and also a ruckmen in the hole but u can still get a soft goal along the way and we ff's absolutely love them.Gotheroos said:No matter what the delivery is like you still have to get it. where do you play ROCK07?it sounds like you like a goal!!!ROCK07 said:Ok roo i'll back u up there is definately no hiding at ff especially if u start kicking a few as they will put a loose player back and also a ruckmen in the hole but u can still get a soft goal along the way and we ff's absolutely love them.
As for me my onballers cant hit their targets so i just get the ball myself and do what comes natural a bit like PETER DAICOS in his hey day, kicking them from everywhere.......HA HA HA
jimmyboy said:The job at full forward can be made much easier by the on ballers mate, almost so easy that it is impossible for the backmen to do anything. I never said you could hide at full forward, but with good delivery you cant say its the toughest position to play. Try backing into packs contest after contest at CHF/CHB.

watch yarra last year, they had a young kid who looked very good wore no.7 with blonde hair.do you know his name?localfootyguru said:Well certainly cant agree about the comment about Newman - he is a good player but certainly not great. Has some ability but doesnt produce the goods consistently.
As for some of the best players in Country football here is my opinion.
Andy Goodwin (Wandin FC in the YVMDFL). See my comment in toughest players thread. The best player I have seen in country/ local football.
John Brunner (many clubs). A player who achieved everyhting in country football, if only he was a bit bigger and he probably would have been a regular at AFL level.
Tim Hargraves (Yarrawonga FC in O&M and East Ringwood in the EFL). One of the hardest workers as a player on field. Great disposal and terrific skills and a good guy as well. Lets hope that Yarrawonga have a great year in 2006 to repay his return to the Pidgeons.

Ibis100 said:I get my information from me. i played on him and he is all talk. Front up to him and all he wants to do is hit behind the play but when someone hits him back he disappears. Sonny Lindsay and Tasyin were the other two. The three stooges
Gotheroos said:That's alright mate, everyones entitled to an opinion.
You probably don't like him because he sat on your head 3 or 4 times in a game.
Ibis100 said:Dream on gotheroos. he came here with big wraps but did nothing. All three of em stuffed the club. He was the best of the three when he wanted to play even though Sonny had the most ability. he obviously hass played some good footy in other leagues but in Sunraysia he had an ordinary year. (As most players do now and again)
he has matured alot since then and i thing it may have been good for him to get away from the other 2.he has played in a few flags since then and was in the o&m team of the year last year so he cant be to bad.i read on another thread that sonny kicked 130+ goals last year so he must be able to play as well.Ibis100 said:I get my information from me. i played on him and he is all talk.
