Best Streak of Games by a player

Des Headland had a phenomenal hot streak towards the end of 2002. I don't think he would have averaged many disposals, but his effect on the game was huge.

Just about the best player in the comp for that 8 or 9 weeks and he picked up about 15 Brownlow votes.

What the hell has happened to him?
I think that was a special run that was unlikely to even be fully repeated at Brisbane, however he got Fremantle'd and then was most certainly never going to reach those heights again.

except kouta was 28 in his prime
if judd can improve he will beas damaging in a game (besides in the air)
he has 3 years
Judd will not improve much more, he is not one of those types of players, it is not like he will get bigger or fitter. With his injuries, I don't even know if he will be close to his best again. Though, 90% of his best is still brownlow medal winning form.

Paul Salmon was on an amazing streak when he kicked a lot of goals for the Bombers. He did his knee and that brought what could have been an incredible season to a halt.
Peter Daicos had an amazing run for a small forward in 1991 when he kicked 8,8,13, 6 and 5 during a five week spell of brilliance. He kicked 40 goals 10 behinds in 5 games with some of them being the most incredible goals you will ever see.

Kouta was a far better player than Woey but Kouta didnt have a consistant season which cost him the medal.Kouta played his best footy in the 2nd half of the 2000 season and wasnt as good early on where as Woey was pretty consistant right throughout the season and was a worthy winner.I think people get caught up with the fact Woey was pretty ordinary after his Brownlow win and faded away badly thus giving people the impression he was an ordinary Brownlow winner
i.e the name of this thread, best streak of games

Kouta by a country mile, no one could stop him but himself.

Peter Hudson in '71 to equal Pratt's 150 goals record.

Goals: 5, 4, 1, 7, 5, 3, 10, 7, 5, 5, 5, 6, 9, 7, 12, 6, 9, 6, 6, 3, 9, 10, 7, 3.

Look at the middle group! He had only 25 goals to round 6. 13 games later, all with hauls of 5 or more, which brought up a total of 93 goals, he had 118 for the season! His average throught the winter of '71, was over 7 goals per match.

There's no way Woewodin had a better season than Kouta that year.

IIRC Kouta injured his ankle vs Collingwood so he essentially missed that game, then pretty much the whole Essendon game with that knee injury in the first quarter, then the two after that. Did that cost him the Brownlow? Perhaps, but he had enough dominant games that year to be a worthy enough winner.

He was an ordinary Brownlow winner relative to the players who missed out that year, players who had much better seasons than him: Kouta, Buckley and West come to mind. I'm sure you can name a few more.

Not quite the same as Plugger and Pratt, but in 1992 Dunstall started the year with 104 goals in his first 15 games, then after a few quiet weeks finished with 38 in the last 5.

Neither of these would beat Kouta and the first one isn't exactly a streak as there was a few games missed due to injury but there is the legendary run by Hird from the Hawks game mid 1996(One of the greatest games I have ever seen live) through to the Eagles game mid 1997. I'm not sure of the statistics or how they match up to the Greek goddess and I would suggest you would have to take a couple of games out as Hird didnt complete them due to injuries but was a fantastic run

There was also that run in 2000 between the Anzac clash and the game against the Eagles where he got injured.

What rounds did you use for this streak? The best streak I can find for Kouta in 2000 is Round 7 - Round 16 where he averaged 32.1 disposals a game.

He must have fudged the figures (carlton after all).

Rob Harvey in 1998 in the ten rounds Round 3 - 12 average 35.20 disps.

I am pretty sure that will never be beaten - rotations and all these days.

Kicks:260 Nathan Buckley 1999-2000
Marks:129 Matthew Richardson 2008
Handballs:199 Chris McDermott 1992-93
Disposals:367 Chris McDermott 1992-93
Brownlow: 21 Greg Williams 1994

Good get on Chris mcdermott for disps - just pips harvey.

Nathan Buckly and James HIrd agreed that they have not seen anymore dominate games as kouta did in that year.. was a shame he didnt win the bwownlow that season... the knee injury he got that injury really took alot out of him

What the hell has happened to him?

His head got too big and he thought he was actually a good player. Then he got to Fremantle and realised that no one in their midfield was as good as;

Michael Voss
Jason Akermanis
Nigel Lappin
Simon Black
Luke Power

And therefore would struggle when even given the opposition's third-best tagger.

Seriously... his amount of Brownlow votes in 2002 are about 10 x more laughable than Woewodin winning in 2000.

Kouta's stats are very impressive and I can't compete with that - but two little purple patches that came to mind were Kozi's month of brilliance in 05 and J Browns start to the 06 season.

I'm sure you can find more statistically impressive streaks, but they were two recent ones I witnessed and thought of.
