Better balance with one ruckman.

Grundy was not easily Beaten in the Ruck. When we where Smashed in the 2nd Qtr. Our On-Ballers where just as much to Blame.

You must of watched a Different Last Qtr then I saw yesterday.

Witts be back next week

Absolutely, cos I don't think we wanna see either Cloke or White going head to head with Mumford at any stage....and White clearly plays better when he can just concentrate on being a forward, I'm thinking multi-tasking is not a strength of his..

Our biggest issue at the moment is at the center bounces, we seemed to get thumped there yesterday...I guess we miss Beams more than I expected

Reid has been incredibly injury prone and may play down back when he returns
Moore looks like a very exciting prospect, but still developing and will require good management and patience
Witts in my opinion is too slow when in the forward line
Gault is also an unknown quantity that will take time to develop

I think getting an established key forward now will also help long term, as we'll need to replace Cloke. Hopefully Moore and Gault can develop to a level where they're capable of this, however this may not eventuate and I'd prefer that we have the option of someone like Carlisle (or as someone else mentioned Dixon) to compensate for this

According to Maxy on "Monday's with Maxy", it would be too wearing on a young body to be playing only one ruck. The preferred option currently being Witts and Grundy to share the load.

and You don’t want to stuff Grundy’s Body at this age

That last sentence is just silly, no I would not do that nor have I even suggested it.

I just tend to take a more balanced view on players and really study the game, hence my support of players like Blair, Macaffer etc.

However I am also able to see areas where they can improve and don't put them on a pedestal, where they can do no wrong.

For example, I fear what role Macaffer will play if he comes back as at the moment I do not see a position for him. He is one of my favourite players.

What is being a Big Fan of a Player?

Hardest thing to do for ANY player coming in is to becoming a first ruck. Look at all the great rucks of the modern Era, Cox, Sandilands, Stynes, Otten the lot, what do they all have in common, they all had a senior ruckman playing along side them helping develope them into a legend of the game. Unfortunately we lost Jolly and even Fraser before Grundy could have a chance playing along side them. Thats why he has had to assume the roll of first ruck from the get go and in all his games hes played so far hes rarely let us down. Hes young, hes 21, he has many year before he reaches his prime, if he has a few bad games, let it be because he is still learning, all we can do is keep at him, let him play seniors week in week out and in 2-3 years NO ONE will be able to stop him.
Same goes with Witts, hes got the size hes got the body, but what does he lack... experience. give him a few more year aswell and The Grundy and Witts combo could go down as one of the greatest duos of the modern era

It means liking a player but knowing not everyone will see him as good as I do and that I can accept that.
As I said I love the Caff but accept that there may not be a permenant position for him. He has become known as a tagger but I also remember him playing forward.
We are not really putting on strong tags anymore and as far as our forward line, who would he replace?
When he hasn't played well, I don't defend him just because I like him.
I would more likely keep quiet and hope he plays better next time.

and That is why I said they need to spend time up Forward so they can work on playing better up Forward

And in my opinion they can do that in the AFL - even thought I see this as a season to develop our youth, the seniors isn't the place for either of them to clog up the forward line.

Problem is that we have no Mature Age Ruckman that can come in take there Place. So it is very hard for us to do that.

Cox is our only other Ruckman and he is a long way from even having a Chance to play at AFL Level

So in that case we only play 1 full time ruckman in the AFL, and rotate Grundy and Witts through the position. Let them play alternate weeks in the AFL (as a Ruck) and the VFL (Ruck/Forward with Cox)

Then we play Gault in the AFL as the Ruck/Forward?
