People at Pascoe Vale & Darley speak very highly of him, a terrific fella. Turbo I was informed that Jesse Boyd took his spot in the second half of the year, is that correct?

Yes Slyone he is a very likeable guy who gets along with most people. Also as mentioned he did play some reserves footy but always turned up and did his best. Some others have been known to think reserves footy is not for them and some crack it, but Riedy always turned up. His definitely a terrific guy with a great attitude..

Boyd is not a true ruckman mate more a key defender who can play a variety of roles including 2nd ruck. A lot was expected of Reid but for some reason he didn’t preform to what they expected and did seem to struggle a bit for someone who came highly recommend after doing well with Werribee. There is no doubt Reidy has ability as per his footy history and I’m sure everyone wishes him well with Darley..

PS; Very handy ruck but is also a very dangerous forward when playing there.

How is the standard of BFL now compared to past years?

I usually watch EDFL and the odd game of WRFL. Watched Melton Sth v Bacchus Marsh and thought the standard was reasonable.

But if I compared the top 4 teams of each comp I would say the EDFL side’s would smash BFL sides by 60 plus. To big, strong more physical. Seen in recent times EDFL clubs recruit BFL players and they struggle to make a big impact. However the BFL would smash WRFL by 40 plus. Interested to find out how the ex Sunbury players are going at St Albans this season.

Yes this is a post of no real significance as the EDFL have a bigger salary cap compared to the BFL just trying to raise some interest on this forum. BlueJet will surely reply with a response..

WRFL full strength would go close to beat the BFL 3 blokes running around who have kicked 90+ goals in a season in the ovens and murray! (Mellington/rose/wong) Todays game would show that St Ablans have recruited a few from the BFL but are no where near it compared to other blokes running around at Deer Park who generally recruit ex AFL or out of the EDFL. St Albans would be disappointed with who they have recruited no doubt as they could be in the bottom 3 in a few weeks.

And the WRFL beat the BFL a few years back didnt they? The comp has miles better than when it was a few years back but who cares really.

Cracking game yesterday at the eastern oval. East look like being a chance come the end of the year. Does anyone know how many of their VFL players are likely to qualify for finals?
It’s only early but is the final 6 already set? Looks like being Marsh, Darley, East, Sunbury, Melton and North

34-goals kicked for the game, you don't see that happen much anymore!
Looks like all East's VFL players have played 3-games with them, except Jesse Palmer so I assume he wont play with East this year. The only question would be if any player ends up playing too many VFL games, which l looks unlikely.
Agree on your six, looks pretty well set, maybe Sebas could eventually find a spot, but coming from a long way back.

Interesting results today. Sebas announcing themselves maybe, Darley can’t get it going so far. They do their best work when it counts though.
South losing again, season over, can they still finish bottom while spending the most in the league? Time will tell.
Marsh the side to beat still.

Good to see the bloods up and about. Hopefully a long overdue finals appearance on the cards

Marsh must be favourites! Sunbury got found out against a scoring team. Sebas finally getting some return on investment. Melton ticking along nicely. Lakers won’t be there for long, some big beatings around the corner.

Are Sebas remotely thereabouts slammer? I love an underdog.
Nice to see Sebastopol have a win anyway.

I was not there, but from people I have spoken to they reckon they were impressive. They couldn’t believe they had only won the one game prior. How did they get beat easily by Ballarat?

Against Ballarat they had a few out and their good players were maybe quiet. Their bottom 6-8 would of been ordinary that day. If they put it together they have talent which is hard to stop. With better comp we are seeing blowouts but it’s still very even. When sides get on top it’s hard to control it but still reckon you can’t go in to a game expecting to win.

Have watched Melton South Panthers v Melton for the first half in the first game, and watched Melton South Panthers v Lake Wendouree on the weekend as our match of the round was over in Wallan. Amazing to look through the names in the Panthers team and see that side getting beaten by what looked mainly in both games I watched by local younger boys. Is it coaching? is it desire, something must not be right for the talent they have. The locals I was sitting near, think they were local panther supporters, were not happy, plenty of "get rid of triplett and friends and save your money" comments so who knows, something may change soon.

Not sure Scorcer Triplett is still involved there?? They do get a decent home crowd at Melton Sth during the game. Regarding performances could it be they haven’t recruited the right players to fill holes. Seem to have a lot of decent mids but lack key position players which is important in the BFL. But I’m only looking from afar guys..
