Don't know how many players were unavailable for inter league ? But The side looks very ordinary. Will be interesting to see how the BFL shape up.
Rule a line through Darley for a start! But what happened to Kiel, Cassidy, Griffiths, M Johnston, Crofts, Ottavi, Hooper, Rotamah-Onus?
Interesting story by Melanie Whelan on the Courier website today saying it might be time to start an FFA like comp where premiers from different leagues play each other in a knockout until you have a state champ,

Why have anything?

Agree Slammer, look at the AFL, TJ kept it going for years, BUT for what & what cost to players & clubs with injuries. Back in TJ's Era, it was the VFL V SA & WA, once the game became the AFL, it was no longer us against them, players from WA & SA who stayed put in their states, who believed they were good enough to make it in the VFL. The game is a marathon these days & it comes down to the team with the least injuries at the finish line. Players will benefit from the break this week & The Bloods have two weeks to prepare for Sunbury. The Devils will appreciate the week off to prepare for North. I must admit I will never forget that game at the G, I think it was 1989, when you had the forward line of Ablett, Lockett & Dunstall, it was SPECIAL, as Bruce would say. different playing field these days, as Slammer stated, Why have anything?

Champions league works pretty well for soccer, can’t see why it wouldn’t work for our game at state level
These days clubs have to sell plenty of raffle tickets to raise $$$ to field a team, why risk losing one of your guns to play in a game which is insignificant & could cost you a Premiership. What does a champions league mean to Melton or Darley? it ain't soccer!

Interesting article in today’s courier that the league launched an immediate investigation into interleague footy commitments. I wonder if they are looking at all aspects and not just those of the players??

leadership and commitment generally comes from the top, so if players aren’t ‘buying in’ as they say... is there mixed messages being sent out?

Maybe the BFL should have engaged a doctor to take a look at some of the interleague withdrawals and quarantine the less-convincing ones to an extra seven days in bed LOL.

We don't want the 'Interleague Flu' to become widespread, do we?

Possibly not as stupid as it sounds MortlockWatcher .. may have also saved a late withdrawal and an early injury!

These days its not about the Flu. We now have to worry about everyone's wellbeing & mantle health. so we don't need a GP, we need a psychiatrist and a case manager, but then they cant divulge any information back to the clubs. So we are back where we started.

Why would somebody like Nick Graham, just as an example, want to play interleague? Does anybody think he would get some sense of pride or honour representing a league that he's played 4 games in after playing at the highest level? Same could be said for Andrew Hooper although at least he might have some affinity with the BFL, having played all his junior football in it. If interleague is supposed to be some sort of pointer to the strength of football in a certain league or area, base it along the lines of state of origin. Only players that are a product of a league's junior program can represent that league. Have a look through the Maryborough Castlemaine dfl rep team. It's full of 2nd rate CHFL, & BFL reserves players. The whole concept has become a joke & if they don't do something to the format to breathe some life back into it, it should be scrapped altogether.

Agreed.. to clear my earlier post up I was talking about leadership and commitment and messages from the league and the coach of the side. Ever since the first squad was announced there seemed to be media negativity around the lack of what was considered to be ‘top level’ players not committing from the league and the coach. Whether this is true or media flair in their journalism to create a ‘better’ article, we can’t be sure, but if I was player in the mix of the representative 25 it wouldn’t do a hell of a lot for confidence and we all know that when players are confident and have belief the unachievable is possible if they are all on the same path.

Great Post

I'm moving to Ballarat in the next few months and looking for a side to support, I wonder if this board can help me decide.
I'm looking for a club with a welcoming, inclusive supporter base, a good sense of social awareness and engaged online. Colours, mascot and historical strength aren't really that important. I'm kind of recognised down at Port for being the crazy one behind the goals waving the flag and giving stick to the opposition backs, so fully prepared to throw myself in to that kind of support as long as it would be accepted.
Ideally looking at one of the more inner city clubs so I can travel to home games more easily.

Any tips or suggestions?

I know your post is regarding inter league. But Brehaut couldn't fit N Graham in the starting 18. FFS.

EastPoint 43/43 v Melton South 29/50

Sebas 42/47 v Redan 38/43

Lakers 36/43 v Ballarat 38/43

Redan are based at the City Oval, so very central. Have a great history and are used to having a supporter that annoys all the opposition (a drummer), so I think it is a good fit. Check out Redan on Facebook or on the webiste (especially the My Redan Story section https://www.redanfnc.com.au/my-redan-story )
