Maybe I missed all those occassions where he was a slow as treacle, couldn't jump off the ground, couldn't outmark T-Bird (or spoil him), etc.

Maybe would've been OK 30 years ago but will not suit this team in an era where it is imperative to have a mobile ruckman.....I hope to be proven wrong but so far I would be betting on SJ playing in the Bullants all year!!

Thanks, I'm sure a pies fan would know whats best for our side

Please stick to over rating your own club and worry about how you are going to stop us from absolutely blowing your team off the face of the earth when we line in not to distant future.

Last i checked he was a Carlton fan?

No probs - almost fell off my chair with that accusation!!!!!

Dose up!!!!
well with your post about sauce you may aswell be a pies fan.

You say he's slow... do you think he's any slower than warnock?

Hammer can leap... but he can't tap... the quality taps our mid received, they have never experience that whilst they've been playing at carlton. He went in for the ball aswell when the ball's on the floor. He's not gonna be your most mobile ruckman, or the most skillful one, but as long as he can win us the ruck contests that's all you want from him....

couldn't outmark T-Bird (or spoil him), etc.quote]... That was a screen!

Any way who has been to training/practice and seen the players ruck?

Does he out ruck Hampson? How does he go against Kreuzer? Last time I watched Hampson ruck he was terrible, an easy beat.

Our on ballers really thrived with Jacobs going. The North rucks hardly dominated a hitout when they won one and Jacobs won a lot of his own and was able to tap it forward to our advantage. Really good in the ruck. A ruckman should be a ruckman first and an around the ground player second. If they are good at both that's just a rare bonus.

It'll be interesting to see how he goes against mobile "around the ground" ruckmen like Cox. See how he goes chasing or will he drop in the forward half and make them chase him...

I would like to see him take a few more marks around the ground and get into position to do so. Also to give us a long option to kick to when we are under pressuer coming out of half back and need to go to a contest if I could say anything about his game. Pretty good first senior game though.

Thought jocobs played quite well again the other night. Gets a bit of the ball and does well at taps. Hard to see him getting a game with kreuze cloke hammer and warnock however.

He's currently performing better than all of them.

Hard to argue. He showed yesterday that he is ahead of Hampson.

Kreuzer more mobile and better leap I'd have slightly ahead and Warnock......who knows.

I can see some movement in the list at the end of next season:
- Jacobs elevated and Hampson traded to GC for early pick
- Jacobs traded to Port for second round pick

He is becoming a good average ruckman and if he continues his development could become a very good ruckman.

I think Kreuzer and Warnock have the ability to become extremely good ruckman due to their mobility.

I have no doubt that Jacobs will end up on an AFL list at the end of next season.

He should also be elevated if we lose one of our rucks to the LTI list.

Some good points BB. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Good to see that someone got my Monty Python reference in the Robbo/Judd thread:thumbsu: I was really starting to feel old:D
