I'm not sure of how they sound. I'm more familiar with their HD line which vary from model to model but generally the Sennheiser house sound is pretty good for metal. Just having a quick look at the sound profile of them though they seem to have elevated bass and lower mids with some clipped treble which is unlike the Sennheiser HD stuff. I find anything with elevated bass to be a bit boomy for metal personally. I prefer sound profiles that are more flat, maybe slightly elevated treble and a bass extension. For me right now that is the Beyerdynamic DT700 Pro X. They're like the DT770 Pro but with slightly less fatiguing treble.

Depending on your circumstances on how practical it might be, but one of the best investments for better headphone audio is a DAC and amp even if your headphones are only like 32 or 50ohm and easy to drive. If you're always on the move it's not that practical, but I do my solid listening at the computer since I spend so much time there and have a JDS Atom headphone DAC and Amp stack. It's by no means top of the line but great value entry level audiophile gear. A good DAC and amp will deliver better audio to any headphone. Audio is a rabbit hole though as it's a juggle between stuff that's better and what suits your own taste.
Yeah, I think you've got it. I do know that I feel as though I have to use preset equalisers on my Media Monkey app that are flatter and/or reduce the boomy, heavy bass sort of sound if that makes sense.

Cheers, will look into a DAC. My everyday PC headphones are Audio Technica ATH-M40x, which aren't as great, maybe a DAC will improve things.

M40X is actually a pretty good neutral headphone. I have the M50X which is really similar. They're more for studio monitoring so some people find them "boring" as they don't really colour the sound in any way. If it's just for listening on PC then you don't even need to spend much. Getting a good external DAC is the best thing to upgrade first though as even good headphones won't improve your current onboard DAC. From there you decide if you think the headphones are holding your DAC back, and then if you should look at an amp to drive them harder. There are some good value PC DAC/amp combos that don't cost too much at all that I can help recommend when you decide you want to start looking. Even something like the Soundblaster G6 is a great starting point.

I have Audio Technica M50X. I find they get heavy on my head if I wear them too long. Sound a lot better than my PC speakers that cost twenty bucks!

When I bought them I actually preferred a different brand (can't remember it), studio headphones, around $350. I wanted the fold-up design so went with Audio Technica.

Still on Spotify. New song at Steelfest sounded good.
Yep, the new song sounds like a ripper.

For those that may not have seen it;

Sounds like Bandcamp kicked off Destroyer. And so it begins.
KK's Facebook status on the matter gave me a chuckle with the whole "Meditative Hate Training Regime" comment.

New psycroptic is decent but not hooking me in just yet.

A mate turned me on to die weg einer freiheit (yes im very late to the party), enjoying the noktvrm release. Any recommendations on which of their earlier releases to check out next?

In the office quite early this morning and what better way to kickstart my heart than giving the mighty Shout at the Devil a run. Our Japanese visitors think this is normal.

If there's any lookers let them know I'm covid free and can give them a tour of Melbourne sights like the Bendigo, the Old Bar, NSC etc.

Dropping a massive show tomorrow night - two and a half hours! 90 minutes of live footage, a lot of unreleased stuff from Dr Colossus, Dirty Pagans, Jack Harlon and the Dead Crows, Flynn Effect, Choof, Hell Machine, Carcinoid, Harlott, The Miffs and Riot After Midnight.

Filming an interview tomorrow morning with someone from NYC, stay tuned! Did the Vanishing Point show last week, hopefully will drop some footage down the line. Also did the Warped farewell show last week, always enjoyed a Warped show... will be missed.
