Fell asleep watching that new metal movie on NF last night, a bit of a yawn fest.. Besides that I'm looking forward to the commencing footy, beers, punting & tunes over the weekend after a solid month of not much else besides work & training

Yep, I do really enjoy BaN, although haven't listened to them a great deal since Hallucinogen. My fav's are probably MV and 777 trilogies, as well as TWWTG and Hallucinogen. Only stuff I don't really enjoy is Odinist, MoRT, and DSM. So it'll be interesting for me in the hope the new one is more in the vein of TWWTG rather than DSM (which I think is comfortably their worst alongside MoRT), but a 10/10 is high praise. Will give it a spin tonight.

What is it about DSM that people generally don't like? I agree with MoRT, not that it's bad but probably just their weakest. Add Odinist to that too. I think BAN is just so diverse that everyone finds something different. I'm one of the few that doesn't care much for the 777 trilogy besides the first one. I really like DSM because I love the heavy ambience and atmospheric feeling. I also use it as my audio and headphone test. Only a good setup with decent bass extension will have separation in the low end on that album otherwise it will sound like a booming and trudging mess.

New BAN is finally up on Spotify so having a good listen now through my JDS Atom DAC/amp + Beyerdynamics. Really juicy sounding now compared to my initial listens on Youtube.

Sadus - Swallowed in Black.

Waiting on a Red Bull delivery from Menulog before benching. Covid been really mild - nothing further from the initial symptoms I wrote about earlier. Can’t leave home until Wednesday. Lucky got a few albums to get through……..

When i had covid (Easter Saturday positive test) I was confined to the bedroom and ensuite, the wife and kids lived down the other end of the house.

I had a bit of lethargy and a persistent but not terrible cough. When i got out of iso i realised how much it ****ed with my lungs. Ran out of puff real quickly and could feel something not normal in the lungs.

A month on and the cough is almost gone and my lung capacity is getting back to normal. Glad I was triple vaxxed and relatively healthy, i can see how it would hammer the unvaxxed and immune compromised

Lifting was ok today. Will see how cardio is when I can leave the house Wednesday.

My living arrangements been the same. Did they get through unscathed?

Think I caught Covid again myself at Steelfest or Mgla on Tuesday, but not done a test. Although got a cough this time around as opposed to last time. Same fatigue etc...

Been listening to a fair bit of D666 and Desaster. Had new Psycroptic on, normally enjoy them quite a bit, but this one didn't do it for me.

For me, it didn't really grab me at all. You're quite handy with tech, I've got a pair of Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 (over-ear). How are they in the world of headphones for their price/output? Maybe I should try DSM through those?

I'm not sure of how they sound. I'm more familiar with their HD line which vary from model to model but generally the Sennheiser house sound is pretty good for metal. Just having a quick look at the sound profile of them though they seem to have elevated bass and lower mids with some clipped treble which is unlike the Sennheiser HD stuff. I find anything with elevated bass to be a bit boomy for metal personally. I prefer sound profiles that are more flat, maybe slightly elevated treble and a bass extension. For me right now that is the Beyerdynamic DT700 Pro X. They're like the DT770 Pro but with slightly less fatiguing treble.

Depending on your circumstances on how practical it might be, but one of the best investments for better headphone audio is a DAC and amp even if your headphones are only like 32 or 50ohm and easy to drive. If you're always on the move it's not that practical, but I do my solid listening at the computer since I spend so much time there and have a JDS Atom headphone DAC and Amp stack. It's by no means top of the line but great value entry level audiophile gear. A good DAC and amp will deliver better audio to any headphone. Audio is a rabbit hole though as it's a juggle between stuff that's better and what suits your own taste.

Wife and kids were fine. It was a reasonably warm week (for April) so the bedroom windows were open 24x7 and every waking hour had the house opened right up to keep the ventilation happening as much as possible.

My wife is unvaxxed, I’m fully vaxxed. We got it at the same time, I had huge chest issues etc. she didn’t even get a cough. Go figure.
