Mate you did great. All the exercising and stuff you’re doing to improve your health sounds like it’s paying off, you look well too. Being a stroke survivor myself who struggles to get words out I sort of get where you’re coming from, the brain sometimes won’t do as it’s told. Also no need to apologise for anything.

Great show gents. Good to hear the plans. Makes great sense and hopefully end 2025 we have a great future midfield, solid to great spine and lots of X factor. Then fill in the holes and get leadership working. = contention for about a decade.

I was interested in the idea that we may be looking to recruit in a midfield bull. I think when Yze was at Melbourne they had midfield bulls that were very good kicks. Viney was probably the only pure midfielder who wasn't a great kick. Petracca was their Dusty type and Oliver could explode from the midfield and get the ball forward very quickly. I think we have too many bulls already unfortunately none are as good as the Melbourne trio. Smillie and Lalor and MacAulif have potential. So if we pick up another mid next year then I think we need to loose a midfield bull. Prestia will be gone and one of Hopper and Torranto need to go forward or back or out. I think an outside mid like Zak Butters from Port would be a much more likely target.

I agree. But what I heard was a little more subtle than midfield bull. We want a mature highly talented mid, and Reid. Reid just because he is the best young player in the land. The mature mid - if GC Rowell is another contested beast. But is that just because he looks to be available and would be a great pickup for a building team?

Lalor and Smillie are both very skilled. So we seem to be trying to develop a team that will 1) control contsts, and 2) be able to do things with the ball when we have it. Not so sure on outside run and carry so far. It'll be interesting to see where it goes over the next few years. It is easier to get outside players than others. So my guess is that we are focused on getting the core: contested midfield + KP spine + X factor. Then fill in around that. in fact IMHO we are going overkill on the core thing. But then if you have a contest best core to your squad building around it is farily straightforward. But not having the mids or KPs makes it so much harder to fill holes.

If we chase Reid and West Coast believe he will leave, then I suspect we would have to do the deal this year and give up both of our and Norths first round draft pick. West Coast are not going to want to give up Reid for potentially higher picks in later drafts that are heavily compromised by Tasmania. It would be ideal if Blight or even Miller showed some real development as they could provide a useful bargaining chip with West Coast.
If we did give up our 2 picks this year for Reid, then we would need to develop a couple of our existing outside midfielders, which ties back into the conversation about Sonsie and the potential of some of our other smalls.

He's had plenty of opportunities to get a gig in the senior team. And he has not taken his chances . He is not 100% committed and will struggle for further senior selection. He has not had his confidence shattered by the club by not playing him in the centre. If Tyler wants to make it then he will .it's up to him
