I am also selfishly relieved about the overall match result as I really should have fought on in one of my drawn games and not accepted the draw offer but I was struggling with work/life at the time!

I would have timed out - it is so easy to do in a 1 day game - but luckily I got a 'vacation'. I won a game completely against the run of play, the opponent must have thought he had it in the bag and overlooked my sneaky checkmate attack when two pieces down.
The other game is still going, the last one I think but it is looking optimistic - anyway we won, yay!
I've pretty much disengaged from chess.com. I was doing terribly, losing all my games, so I resigned all my tournament games and quit, this match is all I have going now, anyway it has gone quite well so I'm pleased, going out on a plus as it were.
I was spreading myself too thin, but I'll make myself available for big footy matches if required. I'm sure the Picts will be up for a rematch, though I don't have any involvement with them now (only just saw your old message, Chipmunk). Other than that I've retired! But I can manage an occasional match, with time to give it my full attention.
2 or 3 day games please, I've stopped my paid membership of chess.com, and I'm guaranteed to time out in one day games!

Happy New Year!
As discussed, my thought was to set up another club match starting soonish and I know who I’d invite. Due to the level of timeouts I’ll make it a 3 day game.
That said, the chess AFL will start again at the start of March.
So looking for some views on whether I set up the club match, or leave it for February and avoid any overlap between the two.

They came back and asked for the match to start on 21 Feb.
A bit far away but if I set up the thread end of next week that’ll leave a couple of weeks for people to sign up.
