Disappointing. Johnson great Infront of goal but he doesn't do anything else in games. Udogie was horrific. Should have dragged him. Really concerning how spurs couldn't settle the game at all and get field position. Bentancur, Kulu and Maddison as well Solanke for experienced players were really poor at that. Bentancur has no control over games at all.

Second half as bad as you'll see. All the squad failings coming to the forefront. No actual 2nd LB in the squad so an out of form or fitness udogie has to play. He was woeful. Think vdv had a rough game which didn't help. Bentancur at 6 isn't a presence when the tide turns against us

First half was brilliant. Solanke hold up play was elite. Johnson and Werner running off him fantastically. The dual 8s running the show.

Just before our 2nd goal the tide of the game starting to turn. Wellbeck missed that chance and we got a gift. Disappointing we don't have the ability to stem to flow or look to the bench to help change things up

Agree with all of that and yet if Kulu doesn't **** the pass to Solanke to make it 3-1 before it immediately went down for their equaliser it could all be different.

Bentancur isn't a defensive mid but he also can't control the tempo of the game either. Udogie and Porro are liabilities when spurs can't get possession high up

I don't think the defeat can be pinned to nearly moments in attack. Even wasteful Werner on the balance of things had a good game attacking had his man on toast.

There was utter shit from the entire back 4. Porro part of the system failure caught out. Romero for a supposed leader and hard man was weak in challenges. Vdv had an off game, Rutter had his measure for pace and it unsettled him. Udogie enough said there

Not protected at all well by Bentancur who isn't a number 6 who can control a game

Not what I was saying, if you concede 3 goals you aren't gonna win many games. Just keeping a little perspective so it's not all doom and gloom.

The problem was after the goal there wasn't a shot on target till the 84th minute. That's when spurs need to be able to get up field and control the ball around but they couldn't stem the tide even in the slightest.

It's hard for it to be doom and gloom when the first half was so good

But this squad can lose a game from any position because we are one of the easiest teams in the league to score against.

3 goals in a half and they were all golden chances that the keeper had no chance on.

Glad ange has gone in pretty hard in the press conference because it's a mentality thing with this group

Definitely mentality. Two completely different teams from half to half it's like they thought they were in for an easy second half and took their foot off the gas. No pressing, no composure and weren't even really commiting forward anymore.

And also shows a lack of game sense from them too

Yes we scored a 2nd goal. But it was gift. And Brighton were actually on top for the second half of the 1st half, even after we scored.

Mental short people and no real assured leaders out there. It's not maddisons game. It's not really Sonny either out on the wing. It should be Romero's but isn't.

The trials and tribulations of timezone differences.

  • Snoozed through my alarm, finally got up about half way through the first half but accidently woke up 4 year old.
  • Got 4 year old back to sleep and was very happy to then see the score and it was HT.
  • Spent 15 minutes replaying the goals from the first half
  • Went to go watch from the start of the second half about 10-15 minutes on delay, but the stream stopped. Once I refreshed the stream started again but it went to the live game so I saw the scores when I didnt want to... It was already 2-2.
  • Then watched live from about the 60 minute mark.
  • Dross.
  • Went back to bed, hitting my shin on the side of some furniture that has been moved because the in-laws are staying with us so things have been shifted around.
  • Promising myself I won't watch these middle-of-the-night games live and will always watch on replay instead, full well knowing I will do all of this again at the next available opportunity.

Might be the timezone I'm in but I've got to the point now I can't justify getting up live unless it's 5am on weekends. All the rest are far too tough on workdays and never late night games here in nz. Means you can skip 15s at a time to get through the countless mins of dross in soccer games.

Problem with us under ange with that approach is it looks all safe to skip 20-40s and you come back and we've copped a goal out of nowhere!

Tottenham just don't have world class players outside of maybe VDV. They have good players, but I don't see a squad that's better than Villa, Newcastle, Chelsea or even much better than Brighton
I know you're a new spurs follower but this group and ange remind me very much of us under Martin Jol.

Loveable coach with some nice footballers but some bat shit crazy results
