Bigman’s Training Reports

Went to training today and the quality of what I saw was less impressive than what I witnessed during pre season. It was similar to our performance in games. Lots of targets missed and too much fumbling for an afl team

Curtin still appears to be favouring that knee. I hope we know what we are doing here

Borlase, Cook Pedlar Gollant in probables. Burgess Murphy berg butts Billy in possibles. Rory also there

Smith did not train

Unlikely that there will be any debuts based on what I saw, which is what I think we need to get some energy back in the team

Unlike pre season I didn’t find the vibe today energising. I gather this happens when you are not playing well

One thing that is obvious is the lack of quality marking targets we have in the team. Keane is probably our best contested mark.

I would not be putting my hard earned on our boys this week. Let’s hope training form is not carried onto the game on Saturday
Thanks for your training report again.
Sounds like we are playing how we train.
Always appreciate the time you put in and to hear your honest assessment

Was anyone else surprised when burgo said we will begin training november 25 That will be 13 weeks since last game. Surely this was an error

We are always in training before new draftee’s arrive
Wasn't Burgo someone who said the Pre-Seasons didn't need to be as long ?

Also the players still have programs ....is this more of a desire for players to be more accountable for themselves

I'm simply spitballing here ;)

Maybe he got mixed up and thought he was talking about Carlolton

Agreed, seems ridiculous if true. 3 months off....WTF is this forum going to become with the absence of any upbeat training reports whilst wallowing - repeating the same shit hundreds of times - from the poor year we have just experienced. Means Reidy better land at least 2 (or 3) of ANB, Luko, Cummin and Rosa

ANB looks a near certainty.
Cumming is who we should be prioritising.
The other 2 come down to whether we get decent trade value, particularly picking up Lukosius $1m pa.

Grand finalists won't start until the new year.

Remember this thread before last season started?

We were all so positive and upbeat about the 2024 season - then Matthew Nicks happened :-(

Cruised past west lakes and saw Milera training with what I suppose was HP staff member. Not moving smoothly but early days in rehab yet. Good he is back on grass rather than inside on training equipment
Sadly I think Junior's moment might have gone. Happy to be proven wrong!

Training form does not always equate with game day performance but in the case of Pedlar and Gollant it was certainly predictable that they would have underwhelming years. Pedlar the previous year was always near the front of the queue and last year always looked cooked and out of breath. Gollant never ever really tackled training with gusto

It will be interesting to see who has made great strides in the post season in terms of their fitness to set themselves up for a huge crack at season 2025

I remember all of those preseason discussions about Pedlar being in the B team rather than the A team. Sadly it turned out to be an early sign of things to come.

Rahilly rated Peds very highly. 2023 with 25 goals he was one of the AFL rising stars.

Very disappointing 2024, was it condition, Burns, combo of both 🤔? He lost his confidence.

Murray Davis first priority = Pedlar

Upside is HUGE 🙏 at 22 (>2yrs younger than Rankine)
Burns has been such a disappointment.

Rated him hightly as a player, but terrible record as a coach.

Turned the best forward line into #12 this season.

Anyone who rates Murphy should give up their career as a coach.

Performance of our forward line significantly impacted by our struggles with clearances and contested footy resulting in low inside 50 numbers. Pedlar did not look fit from the start of the practice matches for whatever reason. Hopefully he is having a big offseason so that when training returns he is fit and ready.

Could be as simple as he got ahead of himself.
