Yep they almost doubled our hit outs. But Billy had the most HO on the day. And Billy helped us win the clearances. Not bad for a makeshift ruck.

Hardly surprising, attended nearly twice as many ruck contests as either Draper or Phillips, win rate at about 30% compared to them both being about 55%.

Frampton 75 ruck contests, 28 hitouts
Phillips 45 ruck contests, 25 hitouts
Draper 45 ruck contests, 25 hitouts
Kreuger 9 ruck contests, 0 hitouts
Johnson 6 ruck contests, 1 hitout

Which makes it even more impressive as he didn’t have anyone to share the load.

His TOG% was only 87% though so I’d say he was pretty well managed. Phillips and Draper just rotated forward more.

Great effort from a makeshift ruck who is only playing there out of desperation. We needed someone to step up and he’s doing a great job for the team. Certainly didn’t lower his colours to their two pronged ruck set up. Must be loving playing in games like that instead of the SANFL or whatever backwoods comp he was wasting his time in.

In fact, after that game, who wouldn’t want to come to Collingwood. (Unless you hate the limelight which isn’t that uncommon I guess)

How well is this bloke going, take a bow Billy Frampton and please keep it up. Makes you wonder about his previous clubs and early career; we've spotted something and been able to bring out the best in him. Well done to all involved and well done Billy. Just hope he can keep it going and make the form lift permanent.

Super happy for Frampton. He is now going to be hard to dislodge from our best team.

Really unless his form fall,s off a cliff it will be hard to dislodge him from the team,we recruited him to play on the power forwards which he did very on lynch and now it turns out he is 2nd or 3rd best ruckman we have on the list ATM. Both Draper and Phillips had good rests forward but Billy rucked nearly all the time and did a wonderful job.

I think fatigue was a factor though. I think he was probably ahead at quarter time until the dual rucks were able to get on top in hitouts.

Frampton’s performance was impressive not because he was amazing from a hitout standpoint (like Grundy), but rather how much he exceeded the realistic expectation that he would get smashed in the ruck like McStay did.

Just to put this in perspective, Brodie Grundy has had two contested marks for the SEASON.

Not trying to hate on the guy, but there's a reason we had to move him on. A part time ruck like B-Framps has more of an aerial impact than poor Brodie does.

And that contested clunk goal is one of the major reasons we got up today. Bravo, Billiam!
Brodes has never been a contested mark just not part of his skill set.

We have two rucks that were working well together. But Frampton with his ability to defend looks useful. Can ruck decently then also match the oppo ruck when they go forward.

I assume he goes back to defence when Cox and Cameron return, but good to know we have another option.
It is a really interesting "dilemna" to have. Frampton almost playing too well to put him back but we definitely need him back. Could we realistically use him as second ruck? At least could we sub one of Cox/Cameron off early and use him for a chop out - especially if Kruegar doesn't stay uninjured.
Evidence the Club might actually know what they’re doing when they recruit from other clubs.
We look like the moneyball experts. Previous decade nothing could go right in the recruiting department, now every recruit is a win. Eddie? Bucks? Fly or GW - must be more than just luck for the change.
If you're a ruckman and cant take a contested mark then you're a VFL ruckman, being able to provide contested marking around the ground is the 2nd most important part beside being competitive in the hitouts for a ruckman
You've been talking to Ronnie.

Absolutely. My argument preseason - we moved Brodie on mainly because he didn't give us what we wanted from a ruckman, the $ were a secondary issue.

Positive psych doesn't ensure good choices. It may make the best out of those choices...
I'm talking more about McRae's mantra which is seeing the playing group thrive, but assumedly it was why he was chosen as well and why others have been added.

I think some were just way too conservative setting what you call “realistic” expectations. Went head to head with Marshall the week before and performed much like he did yesterday. Marshall imho is currently a better ruckman and tougher opponent than Draper.

The adoption of the do better report both in spirit and following through in fact through the public apology is a good start.
True its a great move but, picky I know, neither are about positive psych. Both of them are about the courage to acknowledge who we were and who we are now. Don't get me wrong, huge moments in moving forward without weight. I applaud Eddie for being our leader when the do better report was initiated under his watch. You may have something here though, it is choices like this that create character and freedom under which positivity can act.
