Valdemoro is an unraced filly by Encosta de lago out of Hveger, who is a full sister to Elvstroem. Amazing racing family, she is one to watch Ballarat Thursday possibly.

Our Poeticprincess from the Price yard just made up 8 lengths in 200m to win in the bog at Moe. Massive run against a few battlers in her first start.
Had a great run.

Also liked the breeding and had a few e/w on it yesterday.

Came in to post it in here today but already beaten to the punch by you two guys.

Rachine a horse that has been running in the high grade races n NZ had it's first run in Australia today at Sale. Ridden by Mertens it got right back and ran on really well for a close 3rd. About the only thing that has really ran on well all day.

Not sure what kind of class it will measure up to but the way it ran today makes you think it will win a few races along the line.

Pretty - 3yo Filly by Pins out of Escada - Danny O'Brien.

Races in the same colours as Glamour Puss, Splashing Out (?) and others i can't think of.

Debuted today in a 3yo 1000m maiden at Bendigo.

Obviously the 1000m was too short, got back and wide, got knocked sideways at the top of the straight and came home nicely for 5th.

Thanks for the Pretty update! I missed the races today and I've had her in my blackbook waiting for her to step out. All in all sounded like it was a pretty good run :) I'd be surprised if she got more than a mile, but will be keeping a close eye on her.

I backed Pretty. She is a half sister to Escadaire.

She was wide most of the way but finished strong. 1400 + get on her, she will end up in the city no doubt.

I see Zantelagh went around on Sunday, but as I said, I completely missed the races. She finished in the first three and considering those 3 flogged the rest of them, good enough, although it'd wanna be considering the opposition. I'd watch a replay, but I've exceeded my d/l's for the month already (not long til Wednesday!) and I can't get a replay up haha. I still think she's one who needs racing and will mature with age.

She ran okay.
From memory she sat on the speed, looked likely 200 out, only for the two favourites to swamp her late.
It was a good ride, she didn't have to do much work but still peaked on her run about 100m out.

The first two look like nice horses but after that the race was very, very weak.

I was more focused on the winner but to me she looks pretty dour so i'd be looking for her next season over 10 furlongs.

Got back in the first part of the race but was sent forward 3 -4 wide on a long run from about the1000m and hit lead rounding the turn it then done a good job to hold on with Zevada (who looks pretty smart) nabbing it late and Craquelure who had a gun run only just beating her home. All in all a pretty good run by Zantelagh peaked about 100m out but it was a long sustained run.
Watching the replay I think this was her position 1200m - 10th, 800m - 7th, 400m - 1st
Definitely looking for 2000m + and will improve with age doesnt seem to have a great turn of foot which is why they went early but done well to keep going with a very long run.

Thanks guys! Sounds like she's pretty much what I was expecting this prep, but there's plenty of time, only a 3yo filly by Zabeel so happy to give her time with Kav. Being set alight like early like that considering how circumstances have dictated her to be ridden at her first couple starts and seeing her fight on like that is a pretty good sign. Pays to remember that the two who beat her home are both a year older and are geldings.

Hopefully she's more Bryannbo's Gift than Bromley :/

Soul Diva - really good honest horse, had it and Zarita in a quin on the weekend....the stupid things we do, Duet paid $25! Was closing on the line and u'll still get 6 to 7s for it next start because its "one of those horses", but think it might get it right this campaign..

I know there were a few of you guys interested in him the other week, so FYI Cross Street is going around on Wednesday at Sandown over 1300.. interestingly one of my BB'ers goes around in the same race (Hanks).

I've realy been waiting it seems like forever for Four Floors to come back and he's accepted for Kaklgoorlie on Wednesday. FU over a mile, been gelded, has Paul Harvey, really interesting runner, gotta hunch he might've come back pretty good. Will have a look at the rest of the field later. It's only a maiden, so I'm guessing if he's come back as good as I suspect, he'll be too short to back though.

Good day Wednesday at Newy!

Solid tempo set by Ingleby (Hill Of Grace), Cross Street a little unlucky and was caught a bit wide, if you've been a fan of him stick with him. I'd be looking more towards next prep and further with him tbh. Anyway he about looked the winner halfway down the straight.. Hanks was jagged back at the start, patiently ridden by Linda, pulled out at the turn, charged down the outside and easily put paid to them. Awesome return. Lovely type who'll be much improved for that run.

Was too short for me to back him, but geez I was confident/he was a good thing, and won like it (Four Floors). Hoping to see him at Belmont/Ascot soon and see him measure up there :thumbsu: Good day for blackbook.

Move On Up -
I'm getting in unbelievably early with this unraced filly but i've seen her in a little bit of light work and she looks a likely type.
She's a 3yo filly by Iglesia out of a stakes winning Waterhouse filly (whose name escapes me) who ran fourth or fifth in the AJC Oaks before being retired after only 10 or so starts.
She's also very closely related to numerous G1 winners, including Apercu, the Conners filly that won the G1 2yo mile race at Eagle Farm a couple of years ago.
She's pretty immature so she's probably not going to show up on a racetrack until next Autumn, but she's superbly bred and is definitely one to keep an eye on over the next year.

I have been reading this board for a while now and really rate a few of you guys as tipsters and probably owe some of you a couple of schooners...

I have a quick question, how do you rate DEFINITELY READY? 2 mates of mine are part owners and are very excited about the the prospects for this gelding. I have seen its 2 races and it has absolutley brained them but obviously the quality it has come up against hasn't beeen great.

I would be interested in any thoughts you might have.

Has done everything Kav has asked of it. That is all you can do until he steps into Saturday grade. Looks a good horse though :thumbsu:

At only his second start he smashed the class record and broke the track record that was set by an Oakleigh Plate placegetter.

And Definitely Ready could have went quicker. ...in just his second race start. Sure, I think conditions were set up for him to run a quick time, but there's a difference between 'could do' and 'did'.

Sometimes it isn't only about the quality of opposition, but how you do it. They should be very excited. They've got a potential G1 sprinter there. Big call, but surely they have to be thinking of trying to get him into the Schillaci, if he can sneak a start there and being a 3yo under those conditions he would be very tough to beat. But yeah, they'll just gradually step him up I think, perhaps even just keep him to 3yo company and prepare for a big Autumn..

At least in the media Kav sounds a bit cagey as per usual as to how good DR is and where they'll head next with him, I suspect the ability he's shown on the track has even surprised them a little. Interesting where he bobs up next.

Reckon your mates are gonna have a lot of fun with him.

Thanks for your thoughts Nuke and Rizzo.

I think they will have some fun too but gee its a tough game to be in. A mate from Darwin that was the majority shareholder in Krupt ($450,000 it cost them) has found out in the last 12 months just how heart breaking it can be.

I think they said the track was re-configured/unbelievably fast the other day - that C grade sprinter that won also ran a ripping time.

But that aside, he looks very promising, if its your first horse you have virtually hit the jackpot and have pretty much the best trainer to take you to greater heights. However a lot of 'speedy' types have won a lot of races early then faded into obscurity or got injured - they seem to be very highly strung athletes - see Here De Angels as an example...my advice if just enjoy every win and good run as it comes

I did enjoy the middle sectionals DR ran though, will always have 5 lengths up the sleeve with that kind of pace, and he seems to finish off strongly too. Being a More Than Ready he might be able to get up to 1400 or so but he looks like he will need to learn to settle better and use that explosive pace at the end rather than the whole way!

As a guide, I think he is a lot like Lucky Secret at this stage...

Phone Me Archie from the Darren Weir stable came from dead last at Donald on Friday to storm home and just went down narrowly in 2nd place in his first start. One to watch in the country in the next few weeks perhaps.
