late runs by 4,5,6 would be amazing considering they only have 3,2,0 wins resp
if singo were in the comp then we would see movement - rate them higher than dockers
more like positions 2,3 are only likely changes at this stage

in all div the top 4 looks set, maybe warners in prem div could get in, maybe city could get in div 1, div 2 set, u18 set !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1,2,3 in prem div is mirror image of last year and i see results going the same way for finals altho TA are a chance to upset cardiff in finals

still cannot see anything but city cardiff gf, sad really - so much hassle for clubs with new divisions only to see clubs still getting smashed and finals looking very similar to last year, and finances obviously taking a hit for clubs

tips ...
prem div - city
div 1 - Singo
div 2 - maitland
u18 - dogs

could have told you that at the start of the year

u18 looks like a joke with 3.5 teams, same 3 clubs in contention, #1,2 prem div clubs without a team - who is running this league and why dont they fix this issue

talk abou thro the baby out with the bath water

I must say I have only seen a handful of games this season, however the standard of football seems to have dropped off this season as opposed to the previous few.

I saw a little of the Terrigal and Killarney Vale match on the weekend and Killarney Vale looked to be a mile off the pace. Terrigal were running in numbers and using the ball well, whilst Killarney Vale were trailing all day, were unable to match Terrigals physical pressure and ball use, and when they did win the ball, chose poor options or just turned the ball over too much. I must say that the Bateau Bay facility is outstanding and a great venue for football in the region.

I have seen bits and pieces of other sides throughout the year, and the games I have seen have been marred by poor skills, scrappy play and lots of fumbles. In previous years the skill level was much better in my opinion and the games tended to flow much better than what I have seen this season.

I havent seen much of Newcastle City and Cardiff, but it is quite obvious there is a huge gap between the top 3 and the bottom 3.

I will make an effort to get to the Newcastle City v Terrigal game this weekend to watch two top of the ladder sides compete and hopefully watch a very good game of football.

Cardiff games moved to Teralba???? Anyone confirm?

Singo vs Maitland 2nd Div is at Singo not Maitland. I'm sure there'll be other ground changes.

Seniors was already at Teralba.
1st division was moved on Tuesday (before it rained)

I'm told Warners v Killarney Vale has been transferred to Bateau Bay. I'm also told it is still being regarded as a Warners Bay home game...

No surprise to be asking the question, with all the rain do we know of any ground changes/cancellations? Will the BDAFL invoke the "wet weather policy" with all 3 games played at say Nelson Bay?

Ifanyone is looking these days, I have my photos of the 13th Round Dockers V Bulldogs match up on my webpage
http://dsfphotography.com.au/gallery.htm
Then the 2012 BDAFL Gallery, then pick the round 13 gallery

Cheers Dave, love having a look at the pics, esp as I dont get out to many games at the moment!!

Pretty quiet on here of late,
Firstly well done to Warners who got a win over KV and gave themselves a slight chance at finals this year THEN well done to the Dockers who had their 1st win of the year and slammed shut the Bay's chances at finals!

Well done to Nelson's in 1st div who seem to have got their team in order and appear to be No.2 behind Singo(only losing by a point on weekend, not sure if either were full strength tho), For the comp as a whole would hope they both were as it would be good for both to be promoted and make 8 team prem div( I believe they are both around the Dockers/Warners level) and KV when they not on their game(every 2nd week or as the year goes on)

In 2nd div Maitland are going nicely and just need to step up against KV who seem to have them covered and they should win this div. If it is these 2 in the GF and it close would like to see both go up to 1st div next year.

This would leave 2 spots which can be taken by another stand alone senior side (not sure what Muswellbrook are up too) or a 2nd Nelson's team etc or a 3rd side from a powerhouse(maybe Cardiff) then they can have mega days against City with 3 games against each other!!

This is all dependant of course on what KV decide (stay or Sydney) as I havent heard any on it for awhile.

Question for Deitzy(or anyone in the know) can they field a side in each comp? and if they can the players must be in one OR the other? not both ie tranfer paperwork? if you play in Sydney side then next week bdafl?
If allowed this is what KV would do I think, as there better players play in a comp suitable for them div2 or 3 and the lesser player still play in (local) comp against Wyong,Terr,Dockers etc closer to home.

Finally what the hell happened with the Doggies player and the ump and the car!!! Heard it on radio and there was gonna be umps refusing Warners games etc but it got sorted? Is the player suspended/banned etc? Must of been a full moon or something, pretty crazy stuff if true!!!

Nelson Bay are kiding themselves if they think they are anywhere near Singo, Lake Macquarie or Warners Bay. Results indicate otherwise, but they aren't even at the level of a full strength Cardiff Reserve Grade. A quick look through their playing list shows about 80 players they have used over the course of the year, and they can't even put 44 out each week. If they manage to put out a full team then look out first division. Still don't think they will beat City in the Prems though.
As for them putting in 3 sides...Cardiff can't put in 2! what makes you think they can put in 3???

My info tells me that Killarney Vale have been told, or will soon be told, that no more individual clubs will be accepted into Sydney from the area. Sydney AFL are still open to Harro's Hornets if they come about, if they run around in the Prems AND Prem 18's Sydneyside. I'm also told that Mr Burkinshaw was hauled over the coals for accepting the Wildtigers as it was a conflict of interest with his son being involved in the club.
In answer to your question about transferring from league to league on a weekly basis, the short answer is NO, though the Eagles and SydU are allowed to do so in the NEAFL/SYDAFL so all that would be necessary is a change in the by laws

First of all, the actions of the Umpires Association and their representative on this occasion, has been nothing short of appalling. I understand that the Umpires Association is facing disciplinary action as a result of going to the media. I'm not going to name the person who went to the media, though the person who did go to the media is quoted in stories, people can search for the name if they wish. Not only have they brought the League into disrepute, they have not given the accused person the opportunity for natural justice to occur.
The threat of going to the police, as published, is laughable and a petty attempt to sensationalise the alleged incident. If it was as alleged, they should have gone to the police straight away. There's probably a real reason they didn't...
For What It's Worth...All investigations point there being no substance to the allegations.
That being said, if they are subsequently proven, there is no place in the game for the person involved

that particular member of the umpiring fraternity needs to stop hogging the limelight - on and off the field

but do agree with bdinsider - no place for those sort of antics if they are real - what happens on the field stays on the field and we should all walk away with smiles and shaking hands with each other

Agree that the Bay have been a little all over the place, but I believe their best 22 is good enough to compete with those clubs(they just need to be available/consistent which is sometimes hard with work/family etc).
Im not saying they should go up(and im not part of their club so I dont know if they even want too!) my point being Singo DO want to,so as to not have to 'demote' a team Dockers/Warners etc we need another to step up(Wyong are rebuilding after a lot left,so dont see them as an option).

Cardiff arent travelling that well this year(but by no means are they anywhere lower than 3rd on the powerhouse table!!) Terr seem to have them covered lately, and if you take out the joke of an 18's comp,I reckon they could of found players to fill a 3rd team if thats whats required. Hell I remember a time when Cardiff were a joke that got pumelled into almost oblivion( we all know what happened next) around 10 GF's in a row with multiple premeirships and sometimes complete white washes of the junior grades!!!
If they want to,they will field 3 teams(esp if thats where our comp is heading)

As for KV,I dont doubt your info on them being told no(the bdafl or whatever we call it would be worried that the other clubs will have had enough also and look for greener pastures) BUT I dont think that they would be stopped if they went higher up and argued their case(unless the bdafl could prove it would kill the game/comp here,it would be a restraint of trade and with Gossy rightly or wrongly already there, there is sure to be some debate!!) Would/could they force Gossy back to bdafl? as they are dominating now and have all new sponsers/exposure etc they also wont go back without a fight you would think hell it could end up getting all legal (remember the Doggies werent gunna let Gordo go to Sydney and they said they would bring their legal team in to get it done if neccessary) my point being I dont think it will come to that(and we dont need that stuff in our game) but when push comes to shove 'someone' will give in

I know Garry's son plays there(gossy) but I dont think that would have influenced him greatly (remember he is a big fan of divisionalisation,he tried to put it in here but we too stubborn in our ways,I think if Wyong or KV applied he would off accepted them as well) he put it in down Sydney and the game never been better, we all knew Sydney was a viable option for the coast clubs, and if anything I think thats where they will head and as Deitzy has said earlier will will revert back to the nafl(newwy afl comp) hell all three coast teams voted against the new name of the comp so maybe they will all walk united.

I know Sydney afl want our 'rep' team for prem div but cant see it happening (18's maybe with our 18's comp dead) but we did it before and it died so they will have club teams or nothing!!

We all had diff opinions on the above comments(bdafl, clubs coming/going divs etc) and thats good and healthy, whats not good and healthy and we all agree is this Warners bay business where all facts should be presented, all sides heard etc before any media is involved and yes if they are true appropriate punishments should be handed out to all who act in these ways as it is obviously unacceptable!!

Anyways good to get on here and have some good debate/discussion again

Dont know how clubs can stop players from going elsewhere so long as they are financial and dont have club property etc. If a club went to Sydney, I would think it would be much better to take the whole lot down there as opposed to have a foot in each league. Dont know what benefit a club would have being in two competitions as well as having to be across the different governance of leagues etc. If youre going to go, you either have to do the whole thing or dont go at all in my opinion.

Nelson Bay are always going to battle to attract players while they are in 1st div and are always a risk of losing their better kids elsewhere to play premier division while this is the case. To suggest they will field two sides in the near future is a long shot. As for Cardiff fielding 3 sides, they have had a number of blokes either backing up from 18s or the 2s in their senior side for the last 2 or 3 years at least Noodles, so I dont see where they are getting a 3rd side from. To field 2 senior sides you need at least 60 players and 3 youd need 100 players I reckon for it to work properly and not have blokes double up. 100 sounds like a heap but the amount of injuries/blokes working/family commitments/holidays etc, guarantees that youre always going to have plenty out each week.

Finally I just wanted to acknowledge the effort of Isaac Heeney on being awarded the MVP for NSW in the recent Under 16s National Championships. A fantastic effort and one that I believe should have at least got a mention on the league website! An absolute quality kid who plays the game in the right way and hopefully this is a huge step towards much higher honors. To get 3 best on grounds in the 3 games surrounded with some real quality kids is massive and a great achievement. It is a shame that this hasnt been given the recognition it deserves. Well done Isaac and also best of luck to Jayden Rymer from Nelson Bay who is in the State Under 15s all schools side playing in Adelaide next week. Outstanding achievements.

Good to see Vahid Roser getting a mention Dietzy....... but you are spot on, Isaac Heeney is an excellent footballer, hopefully we see him on our TV screens in future.

Some interesting comments here over the last few days for sure. Good to see a bit of sensible discussion mixed with scurrilous accusations to keep people clicking back!

I was reading with interest a discussion on the Swans fan site regarding the implementation of divisionalisation in the Sydney AFL. It seems not all are as happy with it as the local hierarchy would have us believe. Some of the major gripes surrounding split games, loss of income and volunteer burn out have been echoed at both ends of the F3. If you want to check it out, the link is here

Absoultely amazed there hasnt been anything put out about these kids. Great stories, especially as they have played all their footy in the region. With the improvement Taz has shown with every year he has been in the academy, dont discount his chances of being a show in the future either. Hopefully things change a bit next year, the Roosters get into premier div, and he is able to play against the best players up here so as to continue his development. Plays tall and small, able to play all over the ground, runs the lines hard, wins his own ball and a left footer as well.

I dont think anyone knows what the best answer is that will please everyone. Every club has different needs, but at the end of the day, we need to accept we need to do what is best for footy as a whole, not just our own backyard. What that is I dont know, but I seriously think the majority of blokes playing in the league want to have a kick with their mates on a weekend, play a good hard game of footy and have a win, then go and have a few beers after it. Divisionalisation has saved the back side of a few clubs in Sydney, has no doubt affected the top clubs with the splitting up of their sides, while in the BDAFL the jury is still out and we probably wont have a real idea until 14 months down the track as to how well it has worked. 12 months is too short a time frame to let the emotion come out of the decision and not enough of a sample to see how it has gone I believe.

If things havent worked to make it more even in 12 months why not try this as an idea.

PREMIER DIV-

Each club to play 23 players. Each side MUST field 5 players who are 19 or under (eg born in 1993 or after to qualify this yr) who have been local juniors and have not played premier div footy before the start of the season. The extra player on the bench will ensure the kids can be better rotated and ensures all clubs must make a commitment to bringing through their own juniors. No premier players can play a lower grade on the day of that game in order so that players are at their best for the match and that the product of premier footy always remains the best.

LOWER GRADES-

16 a side 4 on the bench. Will create more space and open footy, reduce the number of players around the footy, which would lead to less packs and opportunities for blokes to get belted, and make it a bit easier on the club umps. Reduces the pressure on clubs to find 22 blokes every week

18s-

No idea what would work with this group. Clubs should be encouraged to have 18s sides. With the comp the way it is at the moment, with so many splits in the draw and different sides having and not having 18s, I know some people are thinking there is no real incentive to get 18s. In my opinion if you dont have 18s then you make it hard to have long term success. Then again on the other foot I was involved with a club that was fairly successful at 18s level for 5 years and look what that achieved so then again maybe not having 18s might help!
