I've never really liked Chapman but I reckon I could accept him in a Richmond jumper. It won't happen though and I'd rather Dal Santo.

Taylor Adams would be a good get for the Tigers. I was talking to a GWS teammate of his and he said he has heard nothing about him coming to Richmond. I asked him what he was like as a bloke and he said "he's a loose unit but a pretty good bloke".

Does that leave any of the Hawks existing rucks open for poaching? Grimley? Lowden? Really don't know if either are good enough to be 2nd string to cover for Maric if he gets injured or needs a break through-out the year, but if they're targetting Longer, you'd think one has to go.
I think lowden has potential to be seriously good A grader. Did some very nice things during the year and during the Grandfinal . His tank needs to be built and as a result he missed goals . However he tackles had 4 shots at goals and despite his lack of baulk he competes . I'd be wrapped for the club to get him in with a longer term view and keep Stephenson .

I WANT PAUL CHAPMAN. Here are 10 reasons why.

1. Would add invaluable experience to our side, especially in finals!!
2. Walk in, starter 22 player.
3. Fills a need, crumming forward that can rotate in the midfield.
4. Can be an assistant coach/player when on the field, a bit like Chaplin, where he can direct our farking disjointed forward line and actually teach them how to play.
5. Would be absolutely FREE.
6. Would be on our veterans list and wouldn't take much out of our salary cap.
7. Still an absolute beast.
8. Would make us a better team immediately.
9. He's 32, but he's free and has invaluable experience.
10. Did I mention he's free? No need to stress about the days we would trade a first round pick for a 30 year old player, Paul Chapman can walk into our club for peanuts and help an inexperienced finals side learn how to win. He adds depth and quality to our list too might I add.

We will be contenders 2014-2020 , players like cousins , Grigg , Pettard , Lonegran , Miller were brought into avoid the younger developing players being exposed for long periods in uncompetitive sides . We are now competitive and the younger players are ready to take a spot in a top 4 side in earnest .
Our waste of list spots on deadwood will already expose us as we get toward 2020 , without now bringing in players who have 1-2 years left in them .
It's a big NO from me !

I would be stunned if they let chappy go. regardless of his age, some champions earn the right to say to the club when its time to retire. It would be similar to see Richardson play a last year at the blues. Wont happen. That stuff can kill culture at clubs.

However, are Hawthorn any lesser off with Brian Lake in their side? He's almost 32 himself and has added polish to their side and topped up their defence to the point where they could win another premiership this week.

We're at that point now IMO where we've got our solid core group of players. We need to add to that through the draft and develop the young kids we've got. I'm not interested in seeing McDonough or Elton playing in the seniors until they've got something to offer, Chapman will fill our need for a small forward, add to our midfield depth, provide our side with absolute elite experience coming from Geelong. I respect your view and can understand why you think that way, but sometimes for a side to win a premiership they need to fit in one little piece of the jigsaw, even if it is for one season. Chapman fills our need as a small forward just as Steve Morris did as a small defender.

You make some compelling points. Except I don't believe Chappy could go onto our Vets list.

Similar to Chapman in a way, but what are peoples thoughts about Dal Santo?

2-3 years from a quality, experienced midfielder to help our young stars along until they've fully matured.

Probably depends more on what he'd cost, but I think he'd be worth looking at.

He is not free. If your extolling his experience then he would command pay for said experience which we cant afford. Also a veteran is only at 1 club so there is no discount there.

Too expensive. That would be one of the mistakes we've made over the years. Trading for old guys.

Dal would cost considerably in trade and wage.

Chappy would be free via FA and IMO wouldnt command a high wage. He wasnt getting one at the Cats when in his prime so I would expect him not demand it now.

Brian lake went to hawthorn on the back of them winning finals just not capable of winning the grand final and after they have been a top 4 side for 5 years and with their stars starting to tapper off .
Last time we won a final 90% of the users on here were virgins . Our stars are still improving and are 3-4 years at least off their peak and through natural maturing of our stars we will improve . When Cotchin , Ellis , Conca , Martin , Jack are all 27+ and we need to top up to win a flag no problems with grabbing the extra peice to the jigsaw but we ain't at that position .

Yep, reckon Chappy will play to keep on playing, Dal will be wanting a nice cheque
