if he comes to u guys then know that, he wont go after the hard ball like burns and licuria does, he will be very good at the receiving end of the ball like Buckley, and they could form an intimidating duo. :D

We have money so we should use it to get someone classy to the club. If we need to spend big on a young Corrie than need be it. Corrie is good and we should try as hard as we can to get him to the club, same for Caracella.

I dont think Corrie was out of contract this year.

...just to reinforce the fact this guy doesn't know much about AFL football.

Although I obviously haven't seen him first hand, Caracella's softness is bloody overrated - in that he isn't as soft as everyone keeps saying.

Maybe it's just that mark he took a few years back where he ran head-on into oncoming traffic....but I dont think he's any softer than O'Bree or Leon.

Well said Leon.

Essendon supporter here.

Caracella's supposed softness is grossly over-rated. Its just the way he looks when he plays the game.

He is a two time premiership playery and 4 time grand finalist.
HE CAN PLAY and is also one of the best set shots in the game.

When will people understand that not every player looks like Glen Archer on the field.

Any player who gets to AFL level is not soft.

If he is available, you take him. I personally hope we can get him back to Windy Hill but that looks unlikely.

Any player who makes A.F.L isnt soft? suppose Craig Bradley was just one player who was pretty hard at it.

Of course he wasn't soft - he played nearly 380 games, many with broken hands, fingers, noses etc. He would have had to play with a needle before the game many times.

Fair dinkum, you blokes expect every player to be a combination of Voss and Archer most of the time

I no Carracella fan but I have a simle question - which option.

A. Keep Williams and O'Bree
B. Drop Williams or O'Bree and take Carracella
C. Drop Williams or O'Bree and take Betheras
D. Drop Williams and O'Bree and take Betheras and Carracella.

Which option D would you prefer?

Edit:

E. Drop Williams and O'Bree and draft Fat Cat and Humphrey B bear.

i'll take option B. Drop williams, keep obree, take caracella. O'bree is just as good a back up as betheras, but younger.

O'Bree is contracted I believe, we are stuck with him. I'd happily drop Williams for Caracella (or Humphrey), but frankly we dont pick up very much for the salary we pay out. We dont need a forward pocket.

Caracella was a huge Collingwood supporter and his family still support them. I reckon he would be good on the wing delivering to the fwds.

well there are a few names flying around preseason draft time, if any are actually still available or not that remains to be known... but i think it is pretty important that we make good use of our pick 4 in the pre season draft.

I guess that some of you people just don't get it. Carrot Seller is a class player. Maybe he is not as hard at it as other players but gees, someone has to be on the end of the hardball gets. If every player was a getter of the ball who would they then give it too?

The current players we have to receive the ball DO NOT have the skill levels of Carracella. We have the resources to pay him 250-300k for two seasons GET HIM. He would be worth 60-80 goals a season, obviously not all from his own boot possibly 40-45 from him and the others to a leading (from the goal square) Tarrant or Rocca.

Currently the guy is a better one on one overhead mark than Buckley inside 50 and a better set shot for goal. I can't see what all the fuss is about, maybe it's because he played for an Essendon and Brisbane side that we loath which makes our opinions of him (and others) so clouded.

A better one on one mark than Buckley inside ...........like when has Buckley played in fwd line the times I have seen him as few as they are he has been a handful against good opponent, not like the 5th best defender that Caracella gets, get serious.

Simple fact is that Carracella is a better one on one mark than Buckley. Put the same defender on Carracella as Buckley has when going forward and Carracella will still be a better one on one mark than Buckley.

More contested marks inside 50 result in more shots on goal, which inturn means more goals.

Whilst I agree with most of what you said, I wouldn't underestimate Buckley's overhead capabilities and he is simply one of the greatest one on one players I have ever seen! He'd out mark Caracella with consummate ease!!

I'd reckon the only area Caracella has over the Great Man, is his set shooting for goal.

I'm certainly not underestimating Buckley. I rate him second only behind Gavin Brown as the best I've seen at Collingwood. For the record Dacios 3rd by a whisker. Yes he is great one on one in all areas apart from his contested marking, especially inside 50.

I don't think he'd take Caracella with ease, despite his build Caracella is very strong overhead and can manoeuvre his opponent out of the contest better than Buckley. Maybe this comes simply from the two distinctively different roles they have played over their careers.

You overrate Gavin Brown. Big time. Rowdy would be lucky to be in my top five.

Brown was maybe top of his era. Not any more than that. However if the skinny winger wasn't made to play on Gorillas all the time he might have been higher on the rankings. So might have Collingwood been at the time.

and hotpie, McGough was contracted too.

Anyway I'm starting a Humphrey and Fat Cat for O'Bree and Williams campaign. Let's not cloud the issue with other cuddly toys like Carracella.
